Where we left off:
Asano likes Nakamura. Karma likes Nakamura. Nakamura is completely oblivious to the both of them.
The guy's tournament stuff is about to start.
Asano's POV
I was going to win against Karma Akabane. I had a master plan, it wouldn't fail. Last year, they used an unknown tactic. I spent a week figuring out every way in which we could've beat them, even with that tactic. Then I spent two months figuring out every. Possible. Outcome.
They didn't have that monkey boy with them this year. What was his name? Itina? Itone? Itona?
First event; pole toppling.
Karma's POV
Our plan was flawless. I should know, I thought of it.
Asano wasn't wearing a confident smirk. He looked... focused. Like he finally acnowleged that we were on an even battlefield.
But I'm about to tilt the tables, daddy's boy.
I smirked, leading the guys in E-class to our positions. Asano mirrored me; we weren't letting each other get ahead.
I risked a glance at Nakamura. She was grinning and holding up a large sign with Kanzaki that said 'GO 3-E!'
It's on.
Nakamura's POV
The gazes the two were giving each other were intense. It was as if they were having their own private battle, and if one of them broke eye-contact, the other would rise victorious.
The referee gave the signal for it to begin. I'm not even sure what happened; I just saw a flash of red and both teams had met in the middle. A-class's defence was strong, but I had faith in our offensive team.
Sugino and Isogai ran towards A-classes pole, somehow having broken through the crowd. My eyes couldn't follow their exact movement, but I refocused when I saw A-class's pole begin to teter.
It stopped at a forty-five degree angle. That dirty scumbag! Using our own tactics from last year against us?
Sugino and Isogai were trapped underneath the pole, held by Asano and some other guy I've never seen before. Asano shot a wink my way. I smiled shyly to myself.
Wait - what the hell? Get it together, Nakamura.
Our pole began to rock, and it became a balancing game. My heart was in my throat as I watched helplessly at the sidelines whilst our pole fell over, scoring a victory for our enemies.
"And the win goes to A-class!" Asano raised a fist in victory, making the crowd go wild. He smiled at me, and I had the sudden urge to flip him off because he made my heart do a jig and my stomach fill with butterflies.
So I ignored all three of those things, turning my back to him. I was met, face to face with...
Karma. "Hey." I smiled, nervously rubbing the back of my neck with my palm. He scared me, what did you expect.
"Listen, I may've made a bet with Asano that whoever wins this gets to take you on a date..." He laughed nervously.
I nodded, my brain not fully processing what he said. He began to walk away.
"Wait... What!? But you lost!" Oh my god. What?
He turned to face me. "Yeah... sorry about that."
I glanced over my shoulder to see Asano with his cute, signature smirk. Cute?
I was really losing my mind.
