That was a little overly dramatic. "This doesn't make any sense, this is all moving way too fast." I say. He looks at me like he understands but he can never understand the damage he just caused. He just cracked the whole system. Part of me wants to say that this is all a lie but the much larger portion actually believes him. "If they're not trying to inhabit the earth then what are they doing?" I am not familiar with the look on his face; all of these new feeling are so new to me that I'm not sure what they all mean. "If you come with me I'll show you." Held out his hand for me to take it I think. I didn't pay attention much when they were teaching us about human gestures. For the first time in a long time I'm not sure if I trust him. Head personal Lillian always told me that I was too trusting. I argued that we should trust each other if the world rehabilitation is going to work. Now i understand. Now my eyes are opened to a new world that I never knew existed. Thinking even about the prospect of the world still existing makes my coding go berserk. I hold my hand out in front of me, not quite sure if I should take his or not. For all I know this could be one of the tests set up for me. If I take his hand right now I could be sealing my fate. If this was a test though he wouldn't have shared all that information right? Right. I take his hand as we slowly slink out of the cave. Weaving through rocky things with sharp edges that would sometimes catch the seam of my T-shirt. Various holes littered the boy and I's clothing as we came out of the mouth of the cave. I had no clue whatsoever of where he was taking me. Mainly because I haven't had the time to explore the rest of the Dome before I was viciously dragged into a cave. All things considered I was glad- no scratch that- I was thoroughly grateful for a guide so i wouldn't be on my own.
We had been walking for a while now. I have no idea how long exactly; forgive me I don't have a very good concept of time. We were walking through a big patch of brown and green things. They were called trees I think. It was awkwardly silent. We hadn't talked the whole way. "So, uh, whats your name?" He didn't even turn around he just kept walking. "Tyler." I was confused. Thats impossible. "That can't be right they named us all after elements, why are you any diff-" He yanked my arm roughly and seethed, "Listen to me Clara, If your going to come with me you'll need to understand that I don't like being owned! Changing my name is just their way of branding me as property. I don't want to be just another asset number on a spreadsheet okay! if they think that they can just mess with my MY life any way they want, they should think twice. Reprogrammed or not I will always be a human, I will always have emotions, I will always be Tyler!"
