The sign out front the old barn said Sunshine Ranch but it doesn't look so sunny anymore. Although a shelter is a shelter and when you are on the run you take what you can get. We enter the wide opening and a musty smell overwhelms us. The stall doors had fallen off and a few walls had caved in. Overall it would keep us dry and there was a ton of hay inside. "So do you think we should stay here." Asia asks me cautiously. Coffee lays down "I am so tired." she says while eating some of the hay piled on the floor. She must be exhausted horses rarely lay down. I guess I can relate my legs ache and there are scars forming on my back and sides. "I think this is a good place to stay at least for a little while." I decide to explore I walk around the back there is an old fence lining a large pasture. When I look to the side I spot a big cage with two rabbits sitting inside chewing the grass surrounding them. They look up at me "Hey can you let us out of here." The smaller one said in a squeaky voice. "Oh of course." The latch is much smaller but I had become a master at opening and closing the doors so this one took a little more force. "Thank you, so much we really appreciate it." I am confused on how they look fine while this barn is like decomposing. "Hey why were you two in that pen." They turn towards me and say "One day we were just minding our own business when a fox leaps out of the woods and tries to pounce on us it was terrifying we sprinted to this old chicken coop there was a board that led up to the top like a ramp and we jumped inside the fox paced back and forth trying to think of a way to get us he stayed there for hours when he finally gave up we realized we were stuck in here." wow rabbits are not that smart "OK bye don't get stuck in any more chicken coops." they hop into the forest "We will try." I go back into the barn to find Asia and Coffee sleeping. So I lazily join them.

When we wake up its the next morning it's almost the opposite of yesterday in terms of weather the sun is out and it is hot and dry. There is nothing to do kinda like it was back in Blueberry farms. I can see the deep gashes and all of our sides from when we were running from Tina and Ryder. I am extremely thirsty and I'm sure the others are too. "Do you guys need a drink I know I do." They agree "I think I saw a small pond right before we came across the barn." Asia informs us. I walk out of the barn and onto the overgrown path that used to be the grand entrance to Sunshine Ranch. I retrace my steps from the day before and see the gleaming water in a little pond farther up. We reach it and take large gulps of water before walking back to the barn dragging our feet along the way. The barn had a different scent this tome it was kind of sooty and thick like nothing I have smelled before but we all chose to ignore it. There was a lot of hay in the stalls so we all chose a stall and ate most of the day the sun was blazing but thanks to the shelter we didn't have to stay in the heat. The stench grew stronger and stronger and the barn grew kind of foggy and dark. I could tell my friends were smelling it to. It was now unbearable like something burning. Then we heard creaks and cracking from above. All of a sudden the entrances to the barn had collapsed with wood that had gone up in flames. The three are spooked and can do nothing but run, scream, and buck.
Nick Black P.O.V I am sitting in the office of the fire station when the radio starts going nuts about a barn fire. My team jumps up throws on all the gear and hops into the fire truck sirens blaring. I am so nervous someone is giving us directions and we take all these back roads and drive across a huge field the smoke filling the sky around the burning structure. I run towards the barn with my ax I hear shrills from what I believe is a bunch of spooked horses inside. The rest of my crew is working in the hose so I go around the back and start chomping wood with my ax. I start to panic when its not doing enough the barn could collapse at any moment. I look around and find a dead tree standing a few feet away so I start whacking at that. I'm definitely running out of time so I drop the ax and just start kicking until the tree starts leaning and the top tips over farther and farther until the tip smacks barn with loud powerful KKACCCHHHH. Then I can spot the three horses inside wailing and kicking when they see light they canter out of the barn as fast as they could possibly go. I run away from the barn too the force of the tree sends the barn crashing down. So I run to the front of the barn and help the guys with the water. One of the other firefighters asks "Where have you been Nick we could of used your help keeping the flames in control." I smile and say back sort of bragging "Well I could have used your help freeing three horses from the barn that would have came down on them and killed them." He looks astonished and goes back to what he was doing trying not to act impressed.
Daisy's P.O.V A large crashing sound goes off at the other end of the barn. I see a scary looking man and light at the other side of the barn and I get out of there so quick my mind could barely tell where I was going. I went nuts after that flailing and running for my life. Asia and Coffee were there beside me rearing up and trotting around letting out little shrills and neighs while stomping their feet. It was pure chaos. We ran around through some trees spooked and trying to pull ourselves back together but I was sure I had a fear of fire now. We ran through more fields and tried to comfort each other we almost were crushed by that barn. It was hard to breath we stayed at a lake we found for a long time.

It was the morning of the next day and my chest hurt from the smoke we were all black and musty colored from the ash. Whenever I thought of the building and the heat I freaked out rearing up and making a little whinny sound. The three of us didn't talk much since the incident. I did notice that I was limping and so was Asia probably when we were jumping and around and landing on rocks and branches. "I just want to go home." I tell my friends. Asia just nods in agreement. "I wish I had a home." Coffee tells me and looks at the ground. "Hey I'm sure Elizabeth would be happy to take you." she looks up "Really" Elizabeth would always take on a new project for a horse that had no where to go."
Nick Black P.O.V I wonder who's horses those guys were obviously no one had lived there in a long time. I should ask Stephanie she might know someone I did see what they looked like and all. I dial her number into my flip phone and hit call it rings twice "Hello" Stephanie says. "Hey this is Nick there were some horses that we rescued from a burning barn yesterday and I wanted to know if you could find the owner." I pause and wait for an answer. "Yeah what did they look like." I replay the memory of the three horses running into the woods. "There were three horse one a light tan with a black mane and tail another was all kind of a yellow, golden color the third was mostly light brown with darker spots on its back." She thinks for a bit. "Sorry I can't think of any horses that fit that description I do hope you find who's horses they are though." I sigh and wonder who else I can ask. "Thank you have a good day." She replies in her sweet gingerly voice. "You too, Bye." I sit at my desk a little longer and keep thinking who else would know. One of my colleagues walks in "You still worried bout those wild horses." I turn towards him. "I just know they belonged to someone." He sits down at his desk "If you say so." I look through the contacts of my phone and see the name Johnathan Carter well he ought to know who they belong too. I press call and the phone rings and rings and for awhile I don't think he is going to pick up then I hear the line connect and his deep voice "Hello." I clear my throat "Hi this is Nick from the fire department I just wanted to know if you could match the description of three horses that were rescued from a burning barn yesterday." His distinctive voice replies "Could you describe these horses." I think of the memory once again "Of course, The three horses had one with a light tan pelt with a black mane and tail another was all kind of a yellow, golden color the third was mostly light brown with darker spots on its back." I can hear him fumble with the phone and gasp "Elizabeth you may want to come here."
