Dirt Road Romance

Chapter 6

             The lights slowly fade back on and I sigh as people began emptying the theater. We stray in our seats until its clear for us to get up without being trampled. Me and Luke had on first when i am suddenly flying forward until someone's hand grips my wrist and catches me seconds away from a bloody nose. "What the Hell Maria?!" I hear Luke's voice rise while im gaining my balance. "Are you okay?" Brien says letting go of my wrist. I nod and look at my now one broken sandal. "I didn't mean to" Maria says batting her eyes. "Bullshit" Luke rolls his eyes. "Luke it's fine im just one shoe short" I chuckle trying to ease the tension. "She can walk barefoot" Maria says pouting her lip and scooting close to Brien but he keeps his distance. "Or you could give her your shoes" Luke says. "NO, i can go barefoot" I say not wanting to slip into the death trap of stilettos. "Are you sure?" Brien and Luke ask facing me. I see Maria's frown behind them while she shoots me death glares. "Yea totally shoes are overrated" I laugh taking off the other one and throwing them into the nearby trashcan. 

                   "Can I drive?" I hear Maria ask reaching for the keys. "No way. My truck" Brien says snatching the keys away last second. "Were to now?" I ask tip toeing over the gravel. "Lets go to the park" Luke says and Brien starts the car so I guess there in agreement . 10-15 minutes later we pull into the only park i have seen since I got here and i jump out as soon as were in park and take off to the tire swing. My feet hit the damp, cool grass as i run. "Luke push me!" I squeal as he reaches my destination. He begans swinging me up and down spinning me around and im giggling so hard my throats dry. "Hey Maria, Brien want a turn?" I ask seeing there just sitting down. "Yes!" I hear Brien say. "Whatever" Maria rolls her eyes and gets on with me as the boys laugh. For a split second we are all laughing and having fun until the boys decide it there turn. While Maria and I do our best to push them we fail horribly. "Oh come on your stronger than that!" Luke mocks. "Big Babys" Brien says as we complain. I jump on with Luke and Maria follows. As the grumble and moan from the uncomfortable position we hear a breaking sound. Then BOOM! Were all flat on our asses. We sprint towards the truck in a hase and take off to make sure no one saw us. 

             "Good Job you haven't even been in town for a week and your already destroying public property" Luke laughs. "It was Brien's fault!" I point.  "Yea whatever" Brien rolls his eyes as we pull into a little restaurant it seems. "Hey Brien, Hey Luke, Maria" A slim blondie smiles as we walk in. "And you are?" she questions looking over me. "Oh hi I'm Athena, my aunt is Shirley?" I say she smiles big and wraps me up. "Its been so long! We used to hang out as kids" she squeals and Maria rolls her eyes. She then leads us to a table and she smiles as i order cheese sticks. The boys and Maria place there orders when music begins playing. "Maria wanna dance?" Brien batts at her in desperation. "I can't dance in these!" she gushes and i wince at the ear splitting sound of her voice. "I'll dance with you" I offer. He slightly smiles and leaves to pay the man at the counter for a song request. I take a sip from my water and grip his hand just as the music begins playing.

{ Sorry for the such short chapter but i'm just trying to put something out there so yall don't kill me. I am looking forward for the next chapter though and I will do my best to have that posted by this weekend. Thank you all so much for accompanying me on this crazy ride}
