Chapter12 – A stranger child


Anothermonth later the carpentry was done and hang beside Dis' bed. Shewanted her family close and suffered from less anger attacks. It wasthe news of an unknown female dwarves arriving in Thorin's hallswhich made the princess leave her room for the first time since hersons had run away.


Shewas curious about this woman which looked like a child and was sayingshe held a letter from Fili. Dis was told the woman showed the letterto no one but the princess herself which made Dis take her seat onThorin's throne.


Itwasn't the first time Dis sat on the throne. Her brother didn't wantto rule from a stone seat which wasn't build in Erebor. He didn'tcall himself king before his time had come and so Dis ruled in behalfof Thorin Oakenshield.


Shelet the girl come closer and was surprised to see a child. The rumorsof her servants had been true. A dwarven child walked down the aisleto the throne and knelt in front of her royal princess. "Yourhighness... My name is Gilriel. My parents died in the attack of thedragon Smaug and I lived alone in exile far away from any dwarf untilI met your sons"


"You..."


"Ihave a letter to prove it. Your son... Fili... wrote a letter to you"The dwarven child took a letter from her robe and Dis crawled off thethrone to ran to her. She sank on her knees in front of the girl andopened the letter quickly. "It's true! It's Fili's handwriting! Yousaw my son! When? Is he well? Is he with his brother? Tell meeverything, girl. Servants! Get her food and a private room! ... You,girl, must tell me everything"


"Yes,I saw both of them. I met them in Bree and they were well. They toldme they would meet their uncle Thorin, the king, not far from Bree...but I was too tired to see the king myself" The girl spoke and Dislistened carefully. She helped Gilriel to stand up and brought her toher new room herself.


Shewanted the stranger to have everything she asked for but to hersurprise she only asked for a bed. Dis let her rest and pressedFili's letter close to her chest when she left the girl's room.
