"Oh hun!"
Cried the stylist when I took off my beanie. He immediately whisked me to a chair as Jamie sat down on my left and Marco on my right.

"So what would you dearies like today?" Asked "Jordan".
Jamie shrugged then smiled wickedly at me from the mirror. "A total make over."
I swallowed and met Jordan's eyes. His pink hair frightened me into thinking what would happen to me.

"I have just the things! Ladies!" He sang. The door opened and two women came out. The blonde went behind Jamie and the Burnett went behind Marco. "Let's try code 13 red." He mused, looking over my thinning auburn hair.

It's for the list. It's for the list.

That's the thought that ran in my head over and over while Jordan got to work.

*le wild time skip 5 hours!*

"DONE!" Jordan cheered, spinning me around. The same went for Marco and Jamie.

Oh.my.god.

A completely different person stared back at me.
I felt a few tears run down my cheeks and felt a small squeeze on my hand. I looked to see Jamie smiling encouragingly.

Jordan had put extensions the same color of my hair except a little darker. Now I had long, shiny, slightly curly hair.
Just like it was before my treatments.

Jordan had added a stripe of deep purple, giving it a cooler look. I wore blue contact lenses and my nails were painted violet.

The tears came on strong as I lunged at Jordan and trapped him in a hug, sobbing my heart out into his shoulder.
He didn't respond, just returned the hug and ran a soothing hand down my back.

This was amazing. I had hair! Hair hair hair!

When I finally broke away and turned, sniffling to my reflection again, I let out a strangled laugh. It was unbelievable.

Jamie got up, teary-eyed as well. I laughed again when I saw her. She now had calm waves of blonde instead f the wild brown. And green eyes blinked at me happily. Marco, well, he didn't change much. Now he had pitch black hair that was styled into a quiff.

But let's go back to me:
HAIR HAIR HAIR HAIR HAIR HAIR HAIR!

The entire drive back, I couldn't stop running my hands threw it, looking at my reflection every 3 seconds, and took so many selfies my phone must have gained a few pounds.

I sent some pictures to my mom and my cousin Anthony.

As the car pulled up to a red light, I saw another text message. I blanched at the number and my good mood dimmed slightly.

Macie: did you get my text? I think we should meet up soon.
Btw: Mario misses you. Please call him!

My hands shook slightly. Why was she texting me now? After all these months of pain and fear, now she decides to text me. And why did she have to mention Mario?!

"Hey, Abbey? Wanna go get some ice-cream before we drop you off?"

I looked up and did a double take, still not used to a blonde Jamie. My face broke into a smile at the goofy goobers I call friends.

I don't need Macie or Mario.

I have Jamie and Marco.
My friends.

I shoved my phone in my pocket and nodded. "OF COURSE! Momma needs her sugar!"
