On Monday, I took out my extensions.
And the contacts.
It just felt to fake, and if I was going to face the terrible twins, then I'd much rather do it myself.
"Sure you'll be okay?" Jamie asked, frowning as we walked into the school. We spied Macy by Mickey and Ariel.
Typical. Her second day here and all ready in the popular circle.
"Yeah. I'll be okay." I said, smiling. Jamie nodded and walked off to her locker while I went to mine.
It had been hard to walk into school in fear of everyone looking.
But no one did.
It was as if Sebastian didn't tell anyone.
Imagine that!
I opened my locker and a small note fluttered out. When I bent down to look at it, my heart skipped a beat.
I keep my promises.

I couldn't stop the wide grin that grew on my face as I looked over the note again.
Sebastian really did keep his promise not to tell.
When I pulled out my calculus book, yet another note fluttered out.
I frowned and picked it up. It wasn't a note. It was a flyer.
To the auditions for the talent show.
Scribbled on it were the words
Don't forget Abby!
-Marco.Great.
So happy.
Ecstatic.
Note the sarcasm.
...
I was walking from the bathrooms when it happened.
I had excused myself from 2nd period to use the little girls room.
And I was walking back when I saw her.
Macie.
"Abby! Hey Abby wait!" I turned and froze. Terror and betrayal flooded me as Macie jogged to meet me.
She was smiling brightly, like we were still best buddies.
"You haven't answered my calls."
True.
"Or my texts."
True.
"Why? Aren't you happy to see me?"Oh hell no.
I slowly took a step forward, my eyes emotionless. "Don't tell me you forgot." I hissed. Macie put on a confused look as she waited for me to explain.
She was either a really good actor, or very stupid.
"December 17. Just after our 8th grade year." I suddenly snapped. It felt like my heart was shaking.
If Macie really didn't remember, then I would be overjoyed to remind her.
"You said- you told me-to come with you. To a party. That Mario wanted to tell me something."
I watched as her eyes widened. "Oh that! Come on Abby! That was years ago! We were just kids!"
I got in her face, I snapped. Broke. The walls gone.
"Oh really?! So it's ok that you lied to me? It's ok that you broke my trust and ruined our friendship? It's ok that you let Mario and his friends-" my voice trembled and died.
I hadn't thought about that night in years. My mom knew, but knew not to bring it up.
"Oh come on Abby! It was just a childish prank! We meant not harm!" My first flew and hit her across the face, she staggered backward and clutched her nose.
"Abby!" She squealed in pain. I slammed her against the lockers and pulled up my shirt. Forcing her to see. To see what she caused.
"Look at it. And don't you dare look away." I hissed.
On my stomach was a scar.
Multiple scars to be exact.
Words.
Phrases.Freak
Slut
Useless
Go die!
Nobody
Attention leach
Loner
All carved into the flesh of my abdomen.
Macie recked away from me, her eyes wide and she was visibly pale.
"Leave. Leave and never come back." I croaked.
"And take your blood loving brother with you." I hissed, then turned and marched away.
Every step I took,
Took me farther,
And farther
And farther
Away from the source of my nightmares.I didn't feel sad.
My shoulders felt lighter than they felt in years.I was free.
