Instead of watching the movie, Eleven tells Mike all about how she joined the school choir program. She recites her songs, and describes her new friends to him. He's extremely happy that she's found an interest, and that she's making friends.
Although, Eleven finds Anita a bit odd. She asks her very personal questions, and when she doesn't want to answer them, Anita just gets angry and scoffs at her. Anita has asked several times to hang out with Eleven, but Eleven always politely declines with a lie like:
"I can't, I'm hanging with Mike today." But in reality—that's everyday, and an excuse.
Eleven runs her mouth to Mike and he just listens to her, nodding every once in a while. She's stopped when a loud knock erupts from the door. Karen shuffles over and invites two guests inside: Corinne and Anita. Karen's expression mimics a puzzled and annoyed look.
"I wasn't expecting visitors at this hour, come in." She says this politely as possible. Corinne nearly forced herself into the Wheeler household. Mike and Eleven give each other a look. The rise from the couch and make their way to the kitchen. Corinne and Anita are seated at the table, making conversation with Karen; even though she looks like she wants to put her hands around her neck. All heads turn when the couple enters the kitchen, and all eyes fall on Eleven. She smiles shyly and tucks hair behind her ear. Mike could tell she was uncomfortable. Corinne jumped to her feet.
"Hello Eleven! How are you feeling? Anita says you two are good friends at school." Eleven lowers her eyebrows slightly and looks to Karen for a moment. She looks back at Corinne,
"I'm fine, healthy, I'm sure." she has a questioning tone to her voice.
"Well, how are your grades? Struggling at all? Because if you are, you could come to our house and Anita could—"
"Straight A's. I have all straight A's." Corinne was shut down quickly. There was a bad vibe running through the room, and it wasn't coming from Elevens snappy attitude. Corinne suddenly became hostile.
"I guess they didn't teach you manners at Hawkins, did they?" Elevens face scrunched up and she balled her fists. Mike places a hand on the small of her back and speaks up.
"We shouldn't talk about that, ok?" Karen shook her head vigorously and stood up. The chair she was sitting in flew back from her force. Her voice was powerful, but not loud.
"You really want to come into my house and disrespect my children?" Anita looks in her lap and Corinne smirks menacingly.
"I'm only trying to make conversation, Karen. Why don't you ask Eleven about that second tattoo? I bet she won't tell you." Elevens chest tightened with anxiety. She began to shake profusely. She started to fall over and Mike caught her in his arms. Mike gave Corinne a disgusted look and scoffed. Karen walked over to Corinne and Anita and began to escort them out of the house.
"I think you've over stayed your welcome." She says bitterly. Corinne stands outside—looking into the house, then back at Karen.
"And when will you realize, that so has Eleven." The mother and daughter hop into their car and drive off with a skid. Karen slams the door and rushes over to Eleven, who now sat on the couch in Mikes arms. She smiled at the two embracing each other. She played with the button on Mikes shirt as she sang one of her choir songs.
I guess he calmed her down.
Karen thinks to herself. They didn't notice Karen standing there until she cleared her throat and spoke up.
"Everything ok in here?" Elevens eyes filled with gratitude. They only thing she could do was nod her head. Karen simply nods back, and heads back into the kitchen to prepare dinner.

Eleven sits criss cross on the floor, and Mike sits up on the couch. She sits between his calves with her back against the front of the couch. A little while ago, Karen came into the living room with a bowl of carrots. Mike had the bowl in his lap. He picked up one of the carrots and brought it to his teeth. The loud "snap" was satisfying in his head. He bit the veggie like this until he had to reach for another one. Meanwhile, Eleven grew irritated by the noise, and couldn't focus on the TV. Mike picked up another carrot and he couldn't even take a bite before Eleven turned around quickly to grab his wrist.
"If you bite it like that again I swear." Mikes eyes grow wide. He starts to laugh.
"And what are you going to do about it?" He smirked and bit the carrot, making the snap extra loud. Eleven hummed in annoyance through her teeth.
"Shut up." She said, trying to cover her smile. He leaned in close to her with the carrot between his teeth.
"Make me." Before Mike had time to think, Eleven tackles him, pushing him back on the couch. She sat on his lap, giving small pecks to his face with her lips. He giggles loudly, and so did she. She took the last carrot from the bowl and put it between her teeth. She snapped it loud, and chewed especially loudly.
"Oops, no more!" Her tone was sarcastic. Mike laughed in defeat and put his hands up.
"Ok ok, you win." She puts both hands on her waist and cocks her head to the side.
"That's right. I win." She leans close to Mikes ear. Her breath is hot against his soft skin.
"And I'll keep winning, Wheeler."
