Mike felt like he had to stay away from Eleven. This really hurt him. He just got her back and now he has to distance himself. Elevens favorite thing to do is sing, and Mike is glad he can hear her voice through out the entire house. Even if it's creepy, he likes to listen to her sing while she showers. He's learned all the tunes she sings, and sometimes he hums them with her. One day he's going to show her real music, stuff she can actually sing.

She sits with legs crossed on Mikes bed. Mike fondles with the radio to get a good signal. He finally gets a clear station, free of static. The song playing catches Elevens attention immediately: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. She taps her finger to the beat on her thigh. She emits a smile towards the radio, and turns it up using her telepathy. Mike realizes this is the first time she has used her powers since she's been back. He turns down the radio slightly and she gives him a glare.

"Hey, why haven't you been using your powers?" She plays with the hem of her sock.

"I want to feel normal." She states simply. That's a good enough reason for Mike, so he nods his head and turns the radio back up. The next song that plays seems to muster up something in Eleven that she can't explain. She wants to run around and be high spirited — Jump by Van Halen. She stands on mikes bed. One of her socks down to her ankle, and the other still at her knee. Her shirt covers her shorts and her legs seem even longer. She jumps and flails her arms while the music plays. Mike laughs at her, and he wishes he could watch her forever. He wants to watch her be happy for the most part. But to put things over the top, he wants to watch her be happy with him. That's all he could ever ask for.

She stops to brush hair out of her face. Her breathing is heavy, but she still wears a smile. She waved her hand gesturing for Mike to come on the bed. He thinks for a minute, then takes her hand. They look at each other for a split second, then Eleven grabs both of Mikes hands and starts jumping and dancing. In that moment, everything was slow motion for Mike. She looked at him while she laughed and cheered. He could see the pure happiness in her face, and wanted to smother her in kisses. He had never seen her act this way, but it didn't matter because he loved it. Mike smiles wide and just enjoys the view. Eleven turns up the volume even louder with her powers. She giggles even when wiping the blood from her nose. Mike Wheeler was in love with a psychopath, and he loved every second of it.

Mike didn't know what was better - hearing her sing or holding her hand. They walked down the sidewalk with their steps in sync. The air was frigid, but the warmth between the both of them could keep them warm for an eternity. Mike wondered why he even thought of distancing himself from her in the first place. His heart lurched out of his chest just by looking at her. The intense feelings only happened when he kissed her. That made sense to Mike. The touching and the intimacy is what gets him. Mike understood this, but El did not. To Eleven, Mike is the only thing she has and she holds him close; so close that she watches intensely whenever Mike uses a knife to spread peanut butter on toast. They wouldn't want it any other way

Mike stops when he sees Troy and James approaching them.

"Not again" he says under his breath. He clutches Elevens hand tighter, then releases to let her know it's ok.

"Frogface and the freak, and unlikely couple" both boys chuckle. Troy and James inch closer to Mike and El. Mike pushes El behind him and she glares over his shoulder.

"What do you want Troy." Mike asks, almost sounding annoyed rather than scared.

"I'm getting back at the bitch for breaking my arm" Mikes fists clench.

"Don't call her that" he says through his teeth

"What are you going to do, Wheeler? I'll call her bitch, I'll call her freak, and I'll call her psycho." The boys laugh again. Mike has nearly had enough

"Only I call her psycho." Mike says under his breath before throwing a punch to Troy's jaw. He stumbles but catches himself on his hands. He gets up and swings at Mike, but he heroically ducks the punch. James grabs El and holds her in a lock. Troy manages to get a pretty lethal kick to the gut into Mike. Mike falls to the ground grasping his stomach. Troy gets on top of him, beating at his face repeatedly. Eleven squirms and pleads for Troy to stop but he doesn't. She's makes a hasty decision to use her weapon. She screams as loud as her voice could go. James lets go of her, but only to hold his ears. Troy flies off of Mike and hits the light post a few yards away. Birds fly off of trees and it is now silent again; like nothing has ever happened. Eleven gathers a barely conscious Mike, and hoists him home somehow. Both of them are weak by the time they reach Mikes basement door. He groans in an effort to walk himself, but stumbles and grabs his head. Eleven barley has strength to turn the door knob, but she does it anyway. She lays Mike on the ground, and she cuddles up next to him. She had no energy to tend to him, so she thought it would be best if they just slept. Right there, on the floor. No where close to the couch. Eleven passed out as soon as she laid down, and Mike soon after.

Mike woke to immense pain on the right side of his face. He touched his cheek and it stung, bad. He winced in pain when he saw the blood on his hand. He looked next to him to see a curled up Eleven on the cold ground. He quickly sprung to his feet only to soon realize that was a mistake. His head spun in all directions but he balanced him self out. He bent down slowly and picked up Eleven in his arms. He couldn't help but notice how cold and pale her skin was. Usually she was warm and full of color. He laid her on the couch and she groaned loudly. He covered her with a blanket and she brought it up to her chin immediately. She began to shiver. Mike got up and opened the basement door. A rush of cold air flew in and chilled him to his bones. It had begun to snow. He made his way back to Eleven and she was still shivering. He scooted her over and carefully got under the blanket with her. She turned to him and wrapped her arms around his torso, and their legs intertwined. She was so cold against his body, but he felt like he was warming her. He was right. She soon stopped shivering and she fell into a deep sleep. Even thought Mikes head throbbed, he fell asleep too.

Mike woke again about an hour later. They were in the same position they had fell asleep in. Mike didn't want to get up, so he stayed. Eleven began to wake up. Mike knew this because she started to make little noises and moved in her sleep. He put a hand on her arm and started to trace little circles with his finger. He heard her purr in response. El opened her eyes and stretched her arms out. Her brittle bones cracked and she yawned. She propped herself up on her elbow to look at Mike. She was smiling at first, but her smile turned to fear when she saw Mikes injuries. She reached her hand out to touch his face and he grimaced in pain.

"Mike..." She said softly. He held her wrist as her hand still laid on his face. She rubbed her thumb over where there was bruising, but no blood.

"I'm ok, El. It's a few bruises. I'll be ok" she's worried he won't look the same when the bruises and cuts heal. But she really has nothing to worry about. Mike looks at her with concerning eyes. He could care less about his injuries.

"How are you feeling though," they're still so close, she can feel his breath on her forehead. "That's the first time you've used your powers like that in a while." She nodded her head.

"I'm ok. Still really tired, but ok." He rubbed her arm gently.

"Good. I'm glad you're ok."

"Me too, but about you." She stammers awkwardly. Mike leans his face closer to hers and their lips touch ever so gently. Mike initiates movement in his lips and Eleven mimics his pace. Mike knew she was tired, so he pulled away and just gave her a soft smile. She smiled back. Every time they kissed, it was a new experience for Mike. Each time different, each time more exciting, each time even better than the last. He kissed her once more on her forehead. She laid her head on his chest and played with the fabric of his shirt. Soon they both fell asleep for the third time. But neither of them cared. All they cared about was being warm next to each other while it snowed. After all, their warmth could melt even the thickest ice.
