"When the hell were you going to tell me Ben was back in town?" Jessica says as we drive back toward my house. I just leaned my head on the car window and watched the passing houses, trees, and anything else that would get my mind off the events that happened tonight. Jessica has been going on none stop the last ten minutes about Ben being back, because she knows what he did. I just wanted to forget it, but it was becoming very difficult to do such a simple task.
As we drive, my mind wonders back to Cameron, and how he helped me tonight. He didn't have to, so why did he if he never cares about any of his bets. I knew I had fallen victim, but I wouldn't let him win. But I do owe him for tonight, because without him being there who knows what could've happened. The thought of his body against mine kept replying in my mind, like a broken record. Something about the way he looked at me tonight, it was different than any other time I had seen him in school. Maybe it was just me.
"Earth to Allison," Jessica says looking at me. I didn't even notice we had already pulled into my drive-way. I looked at her with tears in my eye. She quickly pulled me into a hug and we sat there, in the car hugging until I finally calmed down.
"Why?" I question more to myself than to her. She just looks at me and frowns, because she knew how much he was effecting me.
"Ben is a fucking idiot Allie, don't let him bring you down... He's fucking lucky that the boys were there to hold me back! I was about to beat his ass!" she says making me laugh. She smiles a little and then looks down.
"What?" I say making her look back at me.
"I kinda have a thing for Nate," She says making my jaw drop. Never in a million years would I think I would hear those words come from the girl who hates those boys just as much as I do. I was in complete shock.
"Um, were you hit in the head tonight?" I question her making her playfully hit me.
"No.... I talked to him for awhile tonight before everything happened and he was pretty cool," she says with a shrug. I just look at her blankly. "You can't even yell at me, because I see the way you look at Cameron. You like him," she says making me glare at her. But she was right, I did like Cameron, ever since middle school now that I think of it.
"So what... I refuse to let him use me for some sick game," I say getting out of the car with her. She decided on spending the night to make sure I was alright.
"You don't even know if he is doing it for a bet," she says making me stop in my tracks, making her almost run into me. I spin around and look at the girl in front of me, because she was talking like she had been hit on the head and took a trip to crazy land.
"Nathan has gotten to your head already!" I say making her glare at me.
"No he hasn't, I am just saying maybe you need to just get to know him before you just assume things," she says making me get a little upset now. I shake my head and walk into my house and close the door on her. I knew she would stand out there until I opened the door, but I needed space for a minute. After gathering my thoughts I opened the door to find her gone. She, for the first time in forever actually left instead of staying until I calmed down. Closing the door I took a deep breath and walked upstairs. Tonight was a mistake and I should've known not to go to that party.
After taking a shower and slipping on some running shorts and a tank top, I walked to my bed as my phone rang. I looked at the caller ID and smiled as I picked up.
"Hi mom," I say.
"Hi baby, how are you?" she says talking over other voices. I knew she was at work, she's always at work. My mom works with doctors without boarders, so basically she is over in another country helping other kids. The last few years she has taken parenting her own child as a side job, which trust me it effected me more than I let her know.
"I'm doing good.. I miss you," I say as I hear her talking to someone. I wait for a second until she finishes talking.
"Miss you too... I should be home for your birthday next month. I made my boss promise I could come back for a few days to spend some time with you," She says making me smile. I knew she would keep that promise, she has never missed one of my birthdays.
"I really hope you make it," I say as I hear her talking again.
"Alright baby, I have to go... I love you so much and can't wait to see you soon," she says hanging up the phone before I even say bye to her.
"Love you too," I say as I drop the phone on my bed and lay back. I let out a sigh and hold onto my necklace and close my eyes. "I miss you more than ever," I say as a tear falls down my face as I lay there looking up at the ceiling above me. "Why did you have to leave me?" I say again as I hear something downstairs. Living alone, no pets or anything you can understand why a sound like that was so alarming. At first I thought it was Jessica, but I just shot her a text and she said she was at home already.
I quickly walked as softly as I could to my bathroom and closed the door. I leaned on the farthest wall as I heard footsteps walking up the stairs. It was a big house, but the smallest sounds could be heard in the silence. I closed my eyes as my bedroom door was pushed open with a slam. I held my breath and sent Jessica a text because I didn't know who was here and I needed her.
"Oh Allison, I know you are here," Ben's voice says making my heart stop. Not again, not a second night in a row. I couldn't handle this, how did he get in? I let a tear fall as the bathroom door swung open and he turned the light on. "There you are," He says slurring his words. He was drunk, clearly from the party still. He was here last night too, how I don't know.
"What do you want Ben?" I whisper as he walks over. I freeze as he brings his hand up and gently touches my cheek. I close my eyes and hear him laugh in victory.
"You're so beautiful," He says getting closer. Our bodies were against each other, by force since he was pushing my body to the wall with his. It hurt, he was basically putting all his weight on me, and he was a big guy compared to my.
"Ben...You're hurting me," I whisper making him smile a little and lean his head down to my face He roughly grabs my face and makes me look at him. We lock eyes and it was different than the other times, something dangerous was in his eyes.
"I don't like that new guy who keeps hanging around you," he says in a pissed off tone as he shoves my head back against the wall making me flinch in pain. "You think you can go around talking to other guys?" he says grabbing my by the shirt and pushing me to the ground across the bathroom. I slowly push myself up in pain, but before I could fully get to my feet I was dragged out of the bathroom by my arm and dropped to the floor again in my bedroom. "I don't like playing games Allison," he says crouching down to my level.
"I'm not playing games... I'm only yours," I say in a weak voice. I knew there was no getting out of this with him, he was possessive and would never let me leave.
"You're lying," he says suddenly slapping me across the face making me fall back to the ground. Before I knew what was happening, the room went dark and my body went numb.
