When we got inside, I felt her tense up. "It's okay there's no one here to hurt you. I need to clean you up okay? Or else your wounds will get infected." She nodded slightly. All the light seemed to be gone from her eyes. She was drained of hope and all things good. 'I should probably call the hospital... but what if they take her away? Ugh what am I thinking? She's going to be taken away eventually when my parents get home. They're not gonna want a random, hurt girl in their house. What do I do?' In the end I just decided to give her a bath to clean her up a bit, and then call the hospital.
I set her on the toilet in the bathroom. "Wait here, I'm going to get you a towel," I told her. She gave me a small smile. 'I wonder how long it's been since she's done that?' I thought. When I came back with the towel I saw her trembling once again. It was then that I realized how cold it actually was in here, and all she was wearing was my short sleeved pajama shirt. "Ah! I'm so sorry I didn't realize how cold it was in here! I'll hurry and run your bath," I apologized. I then realized I didn't even have a shirt on. I blushed furiously but I couldn't leave to get a shirt, not while she was freezing here like this.
I walked over to the tub, closed the drain, and started to fill it up. "Is this temperature good enough for you?" I asked her. She hesitantly put her hand in the water then smiled and nodded. Why wouldn't she talk? Was she shy? Scared? I hoped she would talk to me soon. I wanted to hear her sweet, little voice. I glanced over at the soap dish on the wall of the tub and found a bubble bath bottle next to it. I smiled thinking about how whenever I bathed Ran she would always ALWAYS insist I put bubbles in the tub. I smiled and turned to the girl. "I'm gonna make it a bubble bath okay? You like the scent of strawberries?" I grabbed the soap and held it up to her. She smiled sweetly and nodded.
Once the tub was filled, I gently took my shirt off of her and set her in it. She was eyeing the bubbles, fascinated. She gently scooped some up in her hand and looked like she was about to laugh. She was grinning from ear to ear. She reminded me of a child. It was the most precious thing I've seen in a long time.
I grabbed a washcloth hanging on a bar above the toilet, lathered it up in soap, and began to clean her wounds. She had dried blood almost everywhere on her body. I tried not to reopen the wound, but it was really hard not to. A lot of them seemed fresh, as if they were given to her yesterday. I looked at the cuts I had given her when I dug my nails into her. The cuts were deep and some blood was slowly oozing out. Most of it was dry though. "I'm so sorry," I whispered. She smiled at me as a gentle reassurance. I really wish I didn't hurt this little angel like that. I know I didn't know it was her at the time, but still. I should've been more careful. But I still didn't understand how she got these other cuts. She had finger and hand like bruises all over her body as well. I came to conclude that she most likely had an abusive family. Who would hurt such a gentle little thing? It broke my heart thinking that we had people like that in this world.
She must've sensed my sadness because she gently reached out and touched my neck where she had choked me. I was too preoccupied with her to look at the damage, but by the pain I felt when she brushed against it gently told me it had to be badly bruised. She gently felt along my neck with a pained look. I gently took her hands away and held them. "Hey it's okay. You were scared, I understand. If I went through the same things as you I probably would've done the same thing. I'm going to help you I promise. You'll never be hurt again," I smiled. That's when the tears rapidly fell out of her eyes. She sobbed and every time she took an inhale she made a small squeak like sound. I couldn't leave this girl. I couldn't. I had to think of someway to convince my parents before they came back. Maybe Haru could help me... no he wasn't very good with his words. Maybe Rei. Yeah, he's a really smart person he could definitely help. Maybe even Nagisa too. He was so caring, I'm sure he'd come up with some way to kindly convince them.
When I was done washing her, I took the shower head and carefully rinsed her off as the water in the bath slowly drained. The water turn slightly pinkish due to the blood from the wounds. I took the pink towel I placed on the sink, and wrapped her up tightly in it. I then picked her up bridal style once again, and carried her to my room. When I set her on my bed, she winced a bit. I must've brush against a wound. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you I was trying my hardest to be gentle! Are you okay?" I frantically apologized. She smiled up at me and nuzzled my chest. I felt like my heart was going to leap out of my throat at any minute. I was glad it was so dark out because I could feel my face burning. I held her there like that for a couple of minutes when her breaths started to become slower. "Hey," I gently nudged her. "I'm sorry, but I need to treat your wounds before you go to sleep." She nodded tiredly and sat up. I grabbed the bandages and neosporin from the bathroom medicine cabinet, and hurriedly walked back to my room.
I removed the towel from her, and tended to her deepest cut. It was fresh, and I wondered what caused it. It looked like someone sliced her arm with a kni... "Did I... did I do this to you?" I asked horrified with myself. I shouldn't have taken that damn thing with me. Did I lash out with it? Where was it anyways? I must've left it out there. She took my hand and looked up at me with gentle eyes to let me know it was okay. "It's not okay! I hurt you really bad, and you've been nothing but nice to me," I exclaimed. She then pressed her face into my chest and wrapped her arms around my waste. I hesitated then hugged her back, gently stroking her (hair color) hair. I let go of her after a bit and started to tend to the wounds I had caused first. I applied medicine to the gash on her arm and to the punctured cuts on her wrist; and then gently wrapped bandages around them. I then did this to the rest of her body until every single cut was vanished from sight and only bandaids were left.
When I put the bandages and neosporin back in the bathroom, I went to my mothers room and grabbed her big, pink, fuzzy robe. When I got back to my room, the girl was laying in my bed with droopy eyes. I couldn't imagine how tired the poor thing was. 'How long has it been since she's had a nice, warm bed?' I helped her sit up and put the robe around her and tied it. "You can sleep on my bed, I'll go sleep on the couch in the living room. Don't worry, I won't leave this house at all while you're asleep. I'll be right out there; I promise. I stoop up to leave and immediately she grabbed on to my arm and held on to it tight. I remembered once again that I was no wearing a shirt, and again I blushed. I looked down at her wondering what was wrong, and saw her looking up at me with helpless, pleading eyes. I could not say no to this girl. "Okay," I told her. "Just let me put on a shirt first." She nodded and slowly let go. I grabbed a random blue shirt I found on my floor and pulled it over my head. I went back to the bed and lay down right next to her. "Now, get some sleep," I told her. She scooted over to me until we were basically cuddling and nudged her face into my chest. I wrapped my arms around her and before I nodded off I whispered to her "You're safe."
