The school bell rang, signaling the end of the day. I quickly packed up, hoping to get away from everyone in my class. Hinata was asking questions about me throughout all of the lessons. He would ask personal questions about me, and he seemed to not notice how uncomfortable it was for me. If I told him the truth, he would spread rumors about me and most likely ruin my current distance from the class.
I was just a normal and boring transfer student, and that's all there is to it. I am not anyone important to anyone and I never will. Hinata was calling out to me excitedly, telling me to wait up for him.
"Sorry Hinata, I have a few things to do today," I told him, walking briskly away as far as I could from the accursed class.
I heard fast footsteps behind me and I quickly ran as fast as I could, not giving a care about where I was going. I quickly put on my shoes and ran out of the building, sliding down behind a wall.
"Good... he's not following," I thought as I gasped for air.
From the distance, I can hear a thumping sound. I stand up on my feet, dusting my skirt as I walked towards the gymnasium. I peered inside, sliding the metal doors a little to catch a glimpse of the game.
"Volleyball..." I murmured to myself.
"NAGISA-CHAN!!" Hinata's face suddenly appeared before me and I screamed, flustered that he had gotten here so quickly. He slid the door open excitedly, his orange eyes looking into mine.
"Hey, hey, I heard a girl's voice!" I heard someone inside the gym call out. A boy with a shaved head joined Hinata, looking at me even more excitedly.
"WOW! A PRETTY GIRL!" the boy cheered, and I backed away a little. "Hinata is this your girlfriend?"
"What? No! She is my new classmate!" Hinata quickly blurted, his cheeks blushing red as he scratched his nape.
"Um.. I-"
"Don't scare the poor girl, Tanaka..." a someone behind him reprimanded. He had white hair and was smiling awkwardly at the bald guy.
"S-sorry for-"
"Sorry for his their reckless behavior," the white-haired boy apologized, pushing back the two of them inside the gym. "My name is Sugawara Koushi, you can just call me Suga."
"Are you a third year?" I asked, comparing my height with his.
"Yep," he said, sticking out his chest proudly. "I am one of the seniors of this club."
"Club?" I asked.
"Volleyball Club!" Hinata shouted from inside.
"Volleyball..." I thought to myself. "Is it okay if I stay and watch for a bit?"
Suga-senpai seemed a little surprised at my sudden request but quickly smiled from ear to ear as he nodded his head. I didn't want to be rude by just leaving, so I thought staying for a bit won't hurt, although I had to cook lunch for Satoru when he comes back. I hope he will be alright.
I sat down on a chair, watching everyone else play as more and more club members came inside the gym. They would look at me curiously, but I tried to ignore their glances. Then came the black-haired boy that was chasing Hinata before class started. He still had the same scary face from before, which made me think he was probably mad at everything or that was probably his usual face.
The captain of the club, Daichi Sawamura, introduced himself to me when he came in, shaking my hand roughly. All of the boys in the club were largely built which made me feel a little intimidated. Hinata, however, was rather short compared to them, but not as short as me.
They practiced spiking the ball, which was a rather tough sight for me to see. It seemed as though they were about to tear their arms off while hitting the ball.
"People from the countryside is strong," I mentally noted.
It was Hinata's turn and I was utterly surprised by how high he could jump. It was almost as if he was flying. He smirked he hit it, cheering loudly as he saw the ball almost hit the floor.
"ROLLING!! THUNDER!!"
Then, out of nowhere, a figure dashed towards the ball. A boy, stretched out his fist to hit the ball and doing a flip as the ball landed inside the basket of balls.
My eyes widened at how fast the boy ran. It was like a blurry illusion and then he just stood there, his face beaming with glory. I eyed him, noticing that he was shorter than Hinata by 1cm when he stood beside him. His hair was ruffled upwards, except for a tiny tuft that was dyed blonde in front of his forehead. His eyes were bistre brown and seemed to be glowing.
"Noya!" Tanaka shouted, running towards the boy and smacking his hand with his. I figured that they were probably best friends of some sort.
"Sorry I'm late, had to go to extra lessons for skipping," he chuckled, scratching his nape. Then his eyes averted to me, and I flinched a little. He flashed a smirk, winking at me. I instantly blushed, my heart skipping a beat.
"Hey, hey what the hell? Did I just blush over him?" I thought internally. "Pull yourself together Jun!"
When he finished talking to his teammates, he walked over to me and I tried to calm my heartbeat. He put down his bag and coughed awkwardly before finally flashing another smirk at me. This time, I felt no admiration or whatsoever because I knew that he was just faking it. I shook my head a little, before chuckling silently.
"W-What's so funny?" he blurted out.
"It's just... you were so composed and cool and I find that you can't even say 'hello' to a girl," I blurted out without thinking.
"Well you've got guts to say that to your senior," he muttered, his head exhibiting a stress vein on his head.
"Wait- senior?" I stammered.
"I am a second year," he smiled evilly as if knowing my weakness. I hated showing disrespect to my seniors.
I bit my lip, forced myself to stand up and apologised to him. He laughed hysterically, as if trying to make a fool out of me.
