"So? How about I treat you to a drink and ditch this place?"
The boy from the store had waited for me behind the alley outside the back door of the bakery shop. Before I could even reach for the doorknob, he had already pinned me against the opposite wall.
"Oh, no you're not," he said huskily, he reeked of alcohol.
"Let me go," I hissed, pissed off at his insolent attitude.
"Are you afraid?" he smirked, looking straight into my eyes.
I couldn't deny the fact that I was scared of this man at the moment. If he kidnapped me here, nobody could help me. He could just easily cover my mouth and take me away. But I couldn't bare the thought of even showing him my fear.
I slapped him hard on his cheek, and he yelped in pain before I took off, running deeper into the alley.
"Shit," I hissed, noticing that it was a dead end.
"Where are you going, kitty?" I heard him chirp from behind me.
"Yuu, help," I fished out my phone, my hands trembling. What have I gotten myself into? When he picked up the phone, the man slapped it away and pinned me to the wall yet again.
"Yuu!" was the first word that came out of my mouth as I tried to break myself free from his grasp. "Yuu!" I squeaked again.
The man narrowed his eyes into the screen of my phone, grinning widely. "So he's your boyfriend, uh?" he teased, leaning closer to my face.
Tears were streaming down my face now. I realized how powerless I was, how pathetic. He gazed down at me, beaming evilly. "Nobody will come to help you, so just keep quiet." His hand went down my back, sending shivers down my spine.
"Yuu..." I wept.
"ROLLING THUNDER!!!"
My eyes widened and I dropped on my knees, watching the scene before me. I saw the silhouette of a boy, his stature rather short for his age, looking extremely pissed off as he kicked the grown-up's stomach. He yelped in pain, groaning as he stood back up.
"You brat!!" the man punched Yuu on the face, making his back hit the wall.
"Stop it!" I screamed, charging towards the man as hard as I could. But he kept kicking Yuu's body, as he yelped in agony.
"STOP IT! PLEASE!" I begged this time, pulling the man from behind to stop him. I managed to hold him for some time, but Yuu stood up again, only to charge at him once again.
"DON'T MESS WITH JUN YOU BASTARD!" He barked.
The man didn't give up either, he continued hitting until Yuu fell to the floor again. I clenched my fist, feeling anger rising up in me. He pulled Yuu up by the collar of his shirt and I bit his hand, my teeth digging into his skin
"AHH!!" he groaned in agony, punching my face.
"Jun!!" Noya screamed, glaring daggers at the man.
"Who's there?" someone asked.
"Shit," the man muttered, making a run for it.
I looked up to see one of the ladies from the bakery store. She had an astonished look on her face.
"Nagisa-chan..." was all she managed to say.
"Suzume-san..." I stammered. But I quickly ran towards Noya, who had fallen unconscious. His whole body was filled with bruises and his nose was bleeding.

"Ouch!" Yuu whined as I was pressing a cold cloth on the bruises.
"Sorry..." I murmured, feeling ashamed for pulling me into such a mess. "About everything," I added quickly.
I looked up at his face and was surprised to see that he was smiling warmly down at me.
"I'm just glad you are fine," he chirped.
I bit my lips as tears were threatening to show again. "This is all my fault... If- If only I-"
"Idiot," He lifted my chin up so my eyes could meet his. "Do you have any idea what could have happened if I didn't arrive in time?"
"I... uh-"
"I can't bear to lose you..." he placed his forehead on mine, his eyes filled with worry and his smile fading. "Promise me... that if anything happens, tell me as soon as possible."
"Yuu-"
"Promise me," he repeated.
"...I promise," I said quietly.
"That's a good girl," he went back to his cheerful self, ruffling my hair.
I mustered up a small smile and continued tending to his wounds. Even if arms and legs were filled with cuts and bruises. He would flinch at the sudden touch of the cold towel. He winced again, one eye closing as he endured the pain.
It pained me to see him like this. Nobody has ever fought for me before. It was always me who would protect everyone. And it made me feel powerful, as though I was unbeatable.
"Please don't tell Satoru about this..." I murmured, averting my gaze. "I don't want him to see me in that way..."
"How about I take your role then?" he whispered into my ear.
"Eh?" I looked up.
"Jun," he began. "You may be a big sister and the only girl whom I have seen to be independent enough to stand up for others despite any circumstances. But you have to understand that I am here for you too. And you don't have to face everything alone." He flashed a reassuring smile at me, despite the painful bruises on his face. "So cheer up!"
At hearing those words, I felt a blush creep up my cheeks and my whole face turning hot. Warm tears were rolling down, but I chuckled quietly. "Thank you... Yuu."
"Anytime, Juni~" he sang, coiling his arms around my waist and pulling me to his chest. "Man, I missed hugging you."
"...Me too," I whispered and he froze.
"Jun..." he looked down at me and he seemed to be almost on the verge of tears. "You finally accept me..." he embraced me tighter.
"Idiot," I muttered. "I accepted you from the very start," I smiled widely, hugging him back.

It was a Saturday morning, and Nishinoya decided to come over for a study session, despite being in a different year from me. But he barely even lasted an hour reading his textbooks and soon became bored.
"Say... what club are you planning on joining?" Yuu asked, looking from a manga that we had from a shelf.
"...Not sure," I replied, looking up from my notes that I was revising. "Well, I was thinking of giving volleyball a try but-"
"VOLLEYBALL??" he asked loudly, crouching closer to me.
"W-what?" I asked, backing away.
"Jun wearing a volleyball uniform..." he murmured to himself, his eyes sparkling from the fantasies that he was imagining. "I wonder how you would look with mini shorts-"
"Pervert," I said flatly, throwing a pillow on his face. "Don't think about those things..."
"Tennis?" he asked.
"No."
"Swimming?!" he asked even more excitedly, leaning his face closer to mine. "Swimsuits...." he murmured.
I said nothing as I felt my cheeks flushing redder and redder. "No..."
"Ahh, right," he began. "Cause the only person who is allowed to see you in a swimsuit is me," he chuckled with one of his adorable grins.
