Hey people, I am sorry but I deleted the second chapter I uploaded earlier. This one is the revised version of that chapter. So, plz read it and enjoy. I will soon publish the third chapter.
I was in my bed. Safe and sound. Was that a dream? I thought. Obviously! If I am not dead and cozy in my bed, then that had to be a dream -- Duh! Oh, and yes, I realised that those sirens were nothing but my alarm clock. It showed 7:00.
Shit I am late for my school again. I thought.
I got up and got ready in half an hour. I went downstairs and saw my mom making breakfast. My dad was reading the newspaper as usual.
"I am running late!" I exclaimed. Dad simply rolled his eyes at my punctuality and threw an already waiting apple at me. I caught it swiftly, said goodbye to both of them and took a bus to my school.

"ABI! I missed you!" Lizzy came and hugged me once I reached my locker. In case you are wondering, Abi is short for Abigail, which is my name. And Lizzy is short for Elizabeth. She is my best friend. Actually she is the bestest best friend! If that makes sense.
"LIZZY! I missed you too! How are you?" I greeted her back.
"I just can't believe that Natasha and Adam broke up", said Lizzy, completely ignoring my greeting.
She is always updated with the current happenings in our school, and loved gossiping. Me? Well, I am not that type of girl. I am more into getting good grades. But no, I am not a nerd. I am not popular or anything, but I am not a loner either.
Lizzy is very beautiful. I am not that pretty with brown straight hair ending at my waist. I have blue eyes compared to Lizzy's hazel coloured. She has natural blonde hair with blue streaks.
Right now she is blabbing about, well, I am not really paying attention.
"Abi! You are not listening, are you?" Lizzy asked, waking me from my own dream world. I smiled sheepishly at her, proving her accusation. She shook her head at me and said, "Anyways, I will see you at lunch. Bye." With this Lizzy turned and went to her class.

The weather was so cool and awesome that I decided to ditch the bus and walk back home. The sky was a beautiful mixture of grey and blue. The cool breeze caressed my cheeks now and then. I was blissfully enjoying the weather when suddenly, my eyes spotted a lonely alley. I knew that this alley led to an old mansion -- more like a palace -- that was now in ruins. There were rumours about it being haunted. And I have no idea why, but paranormal was something that always succeeded to catch my attention. I was obsessed with it!
Without another thought I started walking towards the alley. It was pretty long and it seemed as if it was no longer used. The brick walls were caked with years of accumulated dirt. The road was littered with cigarette butts and some other questionable objects. I scrunched up my nose in disgust and considered abandoning my plan, when I turned around a corner and spotted the huge building not far away. I can't turn back now. I thought.
I reached at the front of the mansion. It was really really huge. It had red coloured iron gates -- due to corrosion -- that led to the front porch. The iron gates opened with a creaking noise as I pushed them. I made my way through the gate and to the front door. I opened the gate and stepped in. It was dark in there but I could see a little bit.
The living area was spacious but old fashioned. The couch and tables, pictures and showpieces were all in old Victorian style. It was dusty everywhere. I went into the kitchen, which also resembled Victorian era.
I was about to turn and leave when something sparkling caught my eye. It was dangling from the tap over the sink. I went over there and grabbed the thing. It was a locket. The most beautiful one I had ever seen. It had a violet gem inside a silver designer cage like thing. It was attached to a silver chain. Who does it belong to? And what is a pretty thing like this doing in a horrible place like this? I thought. I decided to keep it anyways. Who would notice if I had taken a beautiful locket from a place like this? Right?

I closed the door of my room and plopped on my bed. I took out the locket and examined it carefully. It looked very rare. I had never seen this kind of jewelry anywhere. It looked rather mysterious. And the fact that such an expensive piece of jwelery was found in a place of ruins, did not make sense in my head.
I kept it on my side table and decided to do my homework.
After a while, my mom called me, "Baby! Dinner's ready!" I hopped downstairs while humming 'Closer' by chainsmokers. I am so in love with that song! Anyways, back to the dinner. I told my parents about my day at school, leaving out the mansion part (of course!). After having dinner I went back to my room. By the time I finished my work it was 11:30 and I felt my eyelids grow heavy. I closed my work and went to bed. Just as soon as my head hit the pillow, I drifted off to a sweet, deep sleep.
