"Abi? Abi? Dear, are you alright?" I heard a familiar voice say. I slowly opened my eyes to meet the black eyes of my mom.

I inspected my surroundings and realized that I am back in my room. I wiggled my eyebrows in confusion.

How did I wake up in my room? I remember being in the prison with the lady. Then how did I pop into my room all of a sudden? It isn't possible unless...

It was a dream.

"Abi, is everything alright?" My mother's concerned voice asked me. I just nodded.

"You were crying!" My mom stated.

I brought my hand to my cheek , and surprisingly, found it wet. I had been crying? Why? For that lady? I asked myself. "Ugggh...just another stupid nightmare mooom!" I said, extending the word 'mom'. My voice came out to be more husky than I intended it to be.

She sighed and put a hand on my head. She looked at me and I looked at her. She wore a sympathetic expression and I rewarded her with a flat look. "You will get used to it." My mom whispered while exiting my room. Before I could ask her what she meant, the door of my room slammed shut.

I will get used to what? I thought. I huffed and checked my phone. There was a text from Jayden.

Jayden: Hey. Get ready quickly. We are going to school together. U, me and Lizzy. Just like old days. Will pick u up in 30 min!

Wait what? 30 min? His message came around 10 min ago. That means I am left with only 20 min now! Noo! I thought.

Well, not every girl needs 1 hour to dress up for school, idiot. They have far bigger brains than you! My extremely rude subconscious said.

Well, you are also part of that small brain, you rude ass! I retorted. Satisfied with a quick response to shut up my subconscious, I smirked internally.

But without wasting another minute arguing with my subconscious, I swung my legs off the bed and quickly dashed to the bathroom. I did my usual morning routine -- except, a little faster -- and wore a random outfit I found in my closet.

Just as I finished applying eyeliner, my door bell rang. I wore my locket and hurried down the stairs to see Jayden in mom's embrace. Both of them were grinning like maniacs.

"So nice to see you after so many years. You grew up into a handsome young man, Jayden." My mom said. Jayden only chuckled and looked at the floor.

"Uh-hum." I cleared my throat to get their attention. "Where's Lizzy?" I asked.

"In the car. Waiting for us." Jayden answered. I formed an 'o' with my mouth and nodded.

"Well, aren't you kids getting late l? I think you should get going." My dad reminded us.

I smiled and nodded. "Bye mom. Bye dad." I kissed both of them on their cheeks and headed for the door.

I opened the back door of Jayden's BMW to find Lizzy stuffing her mouth with potato chips. Just as soon as she noticed me, she stopped eating and waved at me enthusiastically. I frowned, but the ghost of a smile was making its way on my face.
