"so," Stu smiles as he sits down next to John. "did you get fired?"

"no," John laughed and returned to his sketch. "he just wanted to know why I was late that's all."

"why were you late? huh?" Stu hummed and John blushed slightly.

"oh I just woke up late that's all." John shrugged and Stu cocked an eyebrow up.

"yeah right. what'd you tell Brian?" Stu asked and John turned to face him.

"told him I helped Ritchie out with something." he shrugged and ignored the cold glare Stu had sent him.

"oh is that right?" Stu mumbled.

"yeah actually," John sighed. "problem?"

"no not at all." Stu said and gripped hold of John's shirt.

"can you let go of me shirt? as much as you like it the fabric doesn't come cheap y'know." John growled and yanked his arm away from the angered man.

"sorry," Stu mumbled and snatched up a pencil from the corner of the desk. "just don't see the point in wearing nice clothes when you're obviously gonna get them dirty later on."

"well you don't see me walking around in jeans baggy enough to hold all my hopes and dreams, do you?" John snorted and glanced over at Stu's reddening face.

"oh shut it Lennon." Stu mumbled and sketched over flowers on the corner of the paper.

"alas, I wish I could but I have no idea why you're getting so worked up." John sighed and set the pencil down.

"well maybe you should quit worrying about your precious roommate." Stu shrugged and John was in so much surprise that he didn't even notice when the pencil, the sketch paper, or his bag fall to the floor with a loud thud.

"and what makes you say that?" John asked through gritted teeth.

"well I'm just saying: if you keep talking about him you might as well date him. I'm actually surprised you guys haven't fucked yet." Stu shrugged and reached over to pick up the fallen items.

"well that's none of your business. you're acting like you're my boyfriend or something." John snarled as Stu blushed profoundly.

"doesn't matter. god knows I'd still be a better boyfriend than that dumbass." Stu mumbled and John turned his head so fast, even he was surprised that it didn't snap off.

"oh really?" John laughed coldly and returned to his art.

"yeah really. we all know I'd give you the ride of a lifetime." Stu huffed and returned to his floral pattern that had now spread to the center of the page.

"and who says? I highly doubt it." John murmured.

"how about we set up our own little bet?" Stu smirked and set down his pencil.

"and that would be?" John laughed to himself.

"we'll date for three weeks. we'll see how it goes then you can decide who's better. ta?" Stu shrugged and held out a hand.

"ta." John mumbled and shook hands with the man in front of him.

"I hope you know what you're getting yourself into, cheeky." Stu said with a wink before pressing a kiss onto John's cheek.

"bloody hell I hope I do." John groaned and ushered him out the room when he felt the tips of his ears and cheeks burn.
