Matthew's POV

I sit in my study, organising document after document in tedious rotation when a knock on the door announced the arrival of my beta.

"Come in!"

She enters with her mate and bows before greeting me with brief "Alpha".

"What news do you bring?" I ask not looking up from my paperwork.

"I was out with Johnathan, eating at a restaurant in human territory."

"Do I need to know about your date with my soldier?" My quick temper getting the better of me. I glare at her for interrupting my work to tell me her life story.

"We came across something interesting, an alpha."

"So? wolves eat in human territory all the time. He was probably having a meal I presume." going back to sorting my files.

"She was waiting our table." emphasising the 'she' . My attention snapped up at her statement.

"Waiting tables?", curious about this alpha.

"Yep. It looks like she might trespass, I'm on the look out and so should your men. This girl is powerful."

"Why should we be on the look out? She wouldn't want to make enemies. I'm sure this she-alpha wouldn't endanger her own pack."

"She's gone rogue." I sit up straighter at that and bark orders through our mind link to secure our borders in case this alpha dares to cross my land. I would have her killed immediately.

"Is that all?" I ask, in caution.

"She seems to have been living here for a while, her scent is all around the town, and the people have seen her from time to time. She seems like a person you would easily notice."

"How come we've never noticed?"

"No one ever goes into town. Today was the first time I've ever gone."

"You are dismissed." I say with a curt nod.

"Oh, and One more thing Alpha Matthew."

"What is it?"

"This girl is not what you would expect. She means no harm."

"Are you sure?" I wanted to trust the judgement of my beta, but the rogue was a huge blow, and to think that she had been in town for 'a while' made my nerves alert.

"If she did, she would have done so already."

"So you don't want me to kill her on site?" I wonder what impression my beta had when she saw the rogue.

"No. If she crosses let her meet you before you decide anything." I look to Johnathan for any additional comment.

"Johnathan, What is your opinion on the rogue?"

"She seemed lost, but beware. She's powerful." He bowed and left with beta Evelyn at his side.

I send orders to the guards, telling them to capture her instead of killing before resuming my paper work.

That night, I head over to my parent's house to eat and discuss the rogue.

"What do you think?"

"This wolf is a rare but dangerous kind. I say kill her before she attacks. If she has alpha blood, she could kill all your guards in a matter of minutes." Dad says ruthlessly, always thinking in a practical manner. I agreed with him though, she would be dangerous.

"I say you should follow the suggestion of Beta Evelyn. See her before you make your move, she could be innocent."

"Mum, she's a rogue. That means she's left her pack and broke all the rules. She was supposed to lead but she left for going against them. How could she be innocent?" My blood began to boil at her words, I despised the rogue already, there was no way I was believing that.

"Matt, calm down. Lock her up in the highest security prison with silver bars if she trespasses." dad tried to reason.

"How would I get her in the prison in the first place? she would kill my men before any of that happens."

"Patrol the borders with your pack, always be alert and run to capture her the moment they send you a mind link. I'll help you too." I didn't want my parents in danger.

"No dad, I have enough men, just stay here with mum. If she comes to attack you, I wouldn't know what to do."

"Don't worry, it'll be fine and your beta said she didn't mean any harm. Trust her." Mum said softly, reassuring me.

"Okay, I'll start making rounds early tomorrow morning."

"Good." was dad's reply.

I twist and turn restlessly through the night, worrying about my pack. What if she was too strong? What if she killed them all? She's an alpha gone rogue. An alpha. A rogue. A girl. She's powerful.

"Don't underestimate people by their gender, but by their strength." My father had told me.

The rogue would be strong, but I would be stronger.
