Arabella's POV

I look down at our hands and wove my fingers between his, it felt right, like two pieces of a puzzle. I knew it was wrong, I knew that two alpha's never went well. They were too similar and both wanted the power to lead. I hadn't noticed we were at his car until he opened the passenger side for me, snapping out of my thoughts,  is quickly removed my hand and got in. My wolf whimpered, reluctant to have let go.

We rode in silence until we reached a white penthouse with open spaces. No other houses surrounded the area, which gave it a secluded feel. I needed to get of here before I got closer to Matthew. It was already hard to leave, from the way he touched me and spoke this morning, the bond wasn't working in my favour. Especially because I'm part of an alpha bloodline.

"This is where I live. Beta Evelyn will guard you until I return." he unlocks the door and gestures for me to enter.

"Evelyn?" I remember the blonde girl from the restaurant.

"Yes, do you know her? It seems your on a first name basis."

"Sort of. She came up to me after work."  I trail off when I remember that I have to work next week and I'll still be stuck here. I need to leave, right now.

I try to convince him again, "I have work next week, if you let me go-"

"No chance. I'll call them up today and tell them you quit."

"But I -"

"No." He says firmly and leaves me with a grinning Evelyn.

She's sitting on the couch and watches me in amusement.

"What?" I say, crossing my arms and glaring at her.

"Nothing, it seems the Alpha's quite hooked up on you."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that...well you could possibly be... how do I say it so that I won't shock you, but you kind of already know. Well your wolf will know but...."

"What is it? Just tell it to me directly. No need to slow the blow." I urge, curious at what she has to say about me and Leila.

"You could be mates."

"What?"

"Mates."

"I heard you the first time, it's just that when someone says it out loud...It's just.....wow."

"Wait. You didn't know? How about your wolf?"

"She's been a bit strange, I thought she was playing around. How could you tell we were mates?"

"He looked at you different."

"Seriously? You're basing it off that?"

"I mean like your the most precious thing in the world and he doesn't want you to leave him. Yesterday he grilled me on keeping you in the house and not letting anyone come in."

"Still..." even though my wolf was happy. I knew I had to leave, there was no way I was trusting anyone, ever.

"So what is it? You're mates right?"

"Lets eat." I say, changing the topic. I didn't want a reason to stay.

I look through the pantry and pull out eggs, bacon and tomato, before making us some sandwiches. Evelyn gobbled up three, but I was full at one.

"Do you have a baby in your stomach or do you usually eat that much?" I tease.

"Nope, my breeding days are over, so yeah I usually eat this much."

"You have children?" I ask in shock.

"Yeah, three. Why?"

"It's just, you look really young, like around my age."

"Oh. Thanks I guess, I'm twenty five, the same age as alpha Matthew. How old are you?"

"Twenty three." I didn't mind people knowing my age, it never mattered.

"Wow, I'm surprised you haven't found your mate yet, unless....." she smiled mischievously.

"No, don't go there. He's probably keeping me prisoner here."

"If he did, it would be in the cell and he told me you needed to clean the house so get mopping." she motions for me to go.

"There is no way I'm cleaning. This place is huge and everything is in place already." I snarl at her. She holds up both her hands and backs away with wide eyes.

"Okay. Calm down. It's okay if you don't clean, we'll watch a movie instead."

"That sounds better." my temper dies down. Why do I have to be a maid too? I'm already a prisoner.

"Yeah. Great, but Matthew is going to kill me."

"I won't let that happen unless you make me do something I don't want to do, then I'll be the one killing you." The fear returned to her eyes even though I was joking.

"I'm kidding." I say, watching her nervousness.

"Ha. Yeah well your intimidating." calming down a little.

"I know, but don't worry I'll make sure you don't dig your own grave."

"Thanks. I think."

"Let's go watch that movie."

We watch the whole chronicles of Narnia films on an epic flat screen T. V. until calling a break for afternoon tea and exploring the penthouse. It was impressive to think that he owned the whole building, but he was alpha so that made a whole lot of sense. Windows opened to the forest outside and the road on the other. Room after room we wondered around, his home was very modern, but lacked the smell of company. I could tell he didn't have a lot of people over often.

"This place is nice, he should have more people over."

"Alpha Matthew doesn't like people coming to his house, he usually stays at the pack house so people can call him more often. All his paperwork is there too, but he does come here when he's free."

"So this is basically his vacation house?" Evelyn chuckled.

"You could say that." She replied.

"Is he ever free?"

"He was free this morning to bring you here, and comes home to sleep. I think."

I laugh with her.

The doorbell rung, "Well, he's also free now, and I can go home!" Evelyn opened the door to let Matthew in.

"or not." she added as he mind linked her.

"Lets sit down." He says.

"So Arabella, I see that you can't follow orders. Would you like to entertain me with the recount of this day?"

"No, not really." I reply curtly.

"Don't speak to me like that. Let me remind you that you are in my territory and anybody here will kill you on my command." Evelyn sat frozen to the spot, but I knew better than to succumb to his threats.

"So?" I knew I was pushing him to the edge but he wouldn't kill me. Right?

I was wrong when he stood and swiped me off the couch in one fluid motion, and threw me over his shoulder. My reflexes responded quickly after that, no one would treat me that way, not even if he was my mate and his touch was electric. I kneed him in the chest and shifted into my black wolf, growling and snapping him as he shifted moments after me. Evelyn was still frozen to the couch until we had shifted. That's when she looked at me for a few seconds, stood up and bowed at her alpha, leaving the penthouse.

I felt her presence vacate, but my focus was only on the ruby red wolf in front of me. My eyes never left his as I glare at the bright scarlet. Leila yearned to play with him, but I wouldn't let her. Sadness pulled at me, but I would never give into the alpha in front of me. This alpha won't know what hit him, he'll regret ever letting me live.
