Arabella's POV
We make our way down the steep stone staircase and past hundreds of empty prison cells until we reached the end of a narrow corridor.
Matt begins interrogating as soon as we set sights on the captive "What's your name?" he begins.
"How wonderful to see you too Alpha Matthew." The man looks up to face us. His eyes widen as he recognises me, but I can tell that he cannot pinpoint my exact figure.
"Quit stalling. What is your name? Which pack do you belong to? Why have you crossed into my territory?" Matt questions impatiently.
"Gosh, so many questions. Does he usually ask this many?" His gaze directly meets mine.
"Answer me! Don't look at her." Matt snarls.
"Someone has his paws in a twist. Take a chill pill would ya? My name is Toby from the Midnight Storm Pack. I'm only the measly Omega my alpha decided to send across to convey his requests. So here goes.
'Alpha Matthew, I have recently run into some trouble with the North west Witch and I wish to seek alliance with your pack. Knowing full well that you have been on neutral ground for some time, I ask for this partnership to only be temporary until I have sorted out these issues. I also know that there is always a price for a helping hand and I offer you my beta's daughter in return. Her father has kindly sacrificed her on behalf of the Midnight Storm pack. She is of strong Wolverine blood and I assure you that she has not yet been tainted.'
As you know, witches are strong and though other pack have joined us, your help will be of value. Can you release me now?" Toby whines and sneaks a glance at me.
I inch towards the shadows and hide behind my curtain of hair. My nails dig into the palm of my hand at the absurd offer. How dare he give away a pack members life so easily? This world is so twisted. Who is this virgin he speaks of? She will suffer if she ever steps foot within my sight and he will suffer with her. Who does he think he is? Is he so desperate that he will give away the beta's daughter? My vision is red as I inhale with difficulty and release my breath with struggle. That should have been MY pack.
"Did he offer the daughter to every other pack too?" I sneer at him distastefully.
"Different daughters, but all with strong bloodlines." He stands straighter with sickening pride.
"What kind of trouble did he get into exactly?" Matt narrows his eyes
"They are confidential to the higher order pack members, from what I've heard only Alpha Elliot and our Beta's family know."
"We will make no deal until I have the details of this rivalry." he responds firmly, turning to walk away.
"Wait!" Toby calls, walking closer to the metal bars. Matt continues down the dungeon and I begin to follow until he speaks specifically at me.
"Why don't you talk to the alpha himself?" I freeze. Talk to Elliot? He definitely can't find out I'm here. My heart begins pounding. Thud. Thud. Silence. I whip around and stride towards his silver cell. Shocked, he stumbles backwards and lands hard against the concrete ground. I glare down at him and hiss through my canines.
"Looks like you know our Alpha, milady." His lips curl upwards. He figured me out.
A second after, I feel a presence beside me.
"Why should we talk to your alpha? If he wants to speak with us he should have come himself instead of sending one of his lackeys." Matt's voice drops dangerously low.
"Will you give him permission to enter your territory?"
"No." I reply without a second thought.
"I was asking the alpha. Who are you to reply little girl? Luna? Or maybe a late night fling?"
Matt snarls at him "Don't speak to her. Give us his contact details instead. I will ring him."
Toby hesitates. "We do not utilise human innovations, our mind links are much more efficient. Unfortunately, I've discovered that these links are blocked in your dungeons."
"It's the twenty first century he should invest in one. In the meantime, I will contact one of his many alliances and pass on my number."
"You won't release me Alpha? It would be a much faster method of contacting him."
"Another misfortune for you omega. I do not release spies. Come to think of it, you didn't need to spy in the first place. So answer this Omega, what was your purpose in coming here?"
The omega remains silent, unanswering.
"Why did you come here? What information have you been feeding your pack?"
Silence.
Fire sparks in the wolf beside me as his temper rises and he roars "Answer me!!!"
I see the tips of his claws beginning to peek through the skin of his knuckles as shaking fists clench tight.
A few more seconds pass before he speaks.
"Oh! Alpha Elliot will be so pleased. Won't he? Little girl?" The glimmering eyes of the omega flicker to meet mine and he lets out a menacing chuckle.
