➳ ZAYN'S POV
6 MONTHS LATER
A lot can change in a matter of six months.
In the last 180 days, Arielle has graduated from Le Cordon Bleu. She is now a fully licensed chef and has been promoted at Drew's dad's restaurant—although, she doesn't plan to stay there forever because she'd love to start her own restaurant or catering business. She graduated at the top of her class and with no sight of her past pedophilic professor, Chef Wilson.
Seeing little Mila has become a frequent thing. We've made the decision to make the trip out to see her at least once a month, and so we drive out. There was even once when we spent the weekend and brought Sky out to meet her. It's been going extremely well and Arielle—and myself, of course—are beyond thrilled to be able to spend quality time with Mila. We've been making it to more ballet practices, playing board games, helping with homework, baking cookies, and watching copious amounts of Barbie movies.
As for Zeinah, she had her baby. A boy who she named Amir. He's happy and healthy, and rather big for such a little baby. I've managed to make it out there a few more times than I used to—because I so dearly want to see my nephew—and I've even brought Arielle out, so she's met my sister and her quaint family.
As for Sullivan, he's still dead. Thankfully. Or at least, if he somehow faked his death, he hasn't come back with a vengeance yet, so let's hope it stays that way.
Kit has effectively gone to jail. I think her sentence is only a few months to maybe a year, but in the time she's been in prison, I've managed to get a restraining order and shut down any chance of her coming near myself or Arielle again. Ever since getting the court order, I haven't heard from her—most likely due to the fact that she can't contact me in the eyes of the law—but a part of me hopes it's because she finally realizes it's over.
We haven't heard much about Arielle's mother, but from the sounds of things, she's headed off to prison as well. She was deadset on believing she knew enough wealthy people to keep out of a jail cell. Apparently, she didn't. A jury of her peers found her guilty on charges relating to fraud stemming from marrying foreign men in exchange for money, and so she's headed off to prison for anywhere from five to seven years. In the overview of things, it's not that much time, but I hope it's enough time for Arielle to at least live her life normally without the psycho for a while. In fact, Arielle seems much more stress free since the sentencing, so hopefully it keeps up.
Sky—our once tiny puppy—is now considered an adult. She just celebrated her first birthday, and it shows. She's no longer the miniature mutt we knew her to be, she grew so quickly that she now takes up half our bed, so neither Arielle nor myself get much sleep some nights.
