Upon leaving the infirmary after visiting hours, Kristof was pondering as he was walking down the halls and corridors. He was happy for Belle having reunited with Claudius but was still worried about what would happen in Levi's office as she was requested there afterwards. He was still thinking about the next gift to leave in Erwin's office when he didn't see him coming.
"Oh, sorry commander. I didn't see you there." Kristof gasped, blushing.
"At ease, O'Brien. I was just on my way to find you." Replied Erwin.
"Why, sir?" Asked Kristof, confused.
"Come with me to my office. There's something I need to talk to you about." The commander answered.
Kristof nodded and began to follow Erwin. Upon arrival to his office, the blonde man opened the door and allowed Kristof entry first before going in, closing the door behind him and locking it. Kristof took a seat in front of the commander's desk as he sat down in his chair behind it, before clearing his throat.
"Now then, as you can see, over the past few months, I have been finding gifts left on my desk." Erwin began.
Kristof's dark green orbs widened. What could this possibly be?
"I thought of them as an act of gratitude but now I realised that I have an admirer in the Survey Corps. It appears that the person who's been doing his best to impress me, is you." Concluded Erwin.
Kristof nodded. "Yes, sir. It's the truth, only the truth and nothing but the truth."
As Kristof was about to ramble on, Erwin got up from behind his desk, walked over to the Irish cadet, leaned downwards and pulled him from his seat, into a deep passionate kiss. Kristof's eyes widened at first at this sudden action, but slowly closed as he began to kiss his commander back. There weren't any tongues, hip pushing or caresses. Just a sweet first kiss of love that lasted for nearly a minute before the two men pulled away, feeling themselves running low on air.
"Commander..." Kristof whispered, out of breath as a shade of scarlet spread over his cheeks, making him look like a little strawberry.
"Please, call me Erwin, Kristof. Only when we're alone." Replied Erwin, also getting his breath back. "I love the gifts you left me. And more than them, your loyalty, dedication and skills in the Survey Corps are what I love most about you."
"I'm so glad you feel the same way." Kristof hiccuped, looking like he was about to cry tears of joy and happiness.
"Looks like your friend, Belle was right about us all along. You have confided in her as she confided in you about her sentiments for Levi."
Kristof looked surprised. "How do you know?"
"Well I have been hearing rumours about it in the mess hall from the superiors' table with him, Hanji, Lorenzo and the others." Answered Erwin. "And how depressed she was feeling about it. Stuck in a romantic situation and not knowing what to do."
"I see your point. She's probably on her way to his office now." Replied Kristof.
Erwin then had an idea on his mind. "Let's see if he loves her back by listening in. His office door would be closed so we'll listen through the wood and look through the keyhole."
"Are you sure about this? He might hear us from outside." Kristof asked, a little worried.
"Silence will be our secret weapon for this. What Levi doesn't know, won't hurt us." Answered Erwin.
Kristof thought about the plan for a moment before nodding as the two men both shared a quick but sweet kiss as they left the commander's office.
Kristof had finally got the commander of his dreams. And all the gifts left in his office have been successful in winning his heart.
