Ryuu had set off to wash and dry off her clothes after both Hak and Yona were sound asleep, since she did not plan to get any rest anyways, and came back in time to see both of them awake and talking.
"Erm...Hak." Yona began the conversation. It was then Ryuu remembered that Yona was not yet aware that Ryuu was with them.
"Yes?"
"Couldn't we head down to some village for food and medicine?"
"Villages are dangerous. Even if the villagers didn't recognise us, castle soldiers are everywhere."
"Not to mention that they will be on a specific lookout for a certain red haired princess and thunder beast."
Ryuu stepped out of the woods and joined the conversation, hoping to see see the reaction Yona would have on her face if the she were to see the servant she had left to die back in the castle alive and well.
Would Yona be shocked? Or perhaps disappointed like Hak had been before when he found out that Ryuu was the survivor? Or would Yona be indifferent because Ryuu wouldn't be much of a help on their journey anyways?
"Ah Ryuu! You're back!"
"...huh?"
Ryuu? She had to acknowledge the fact that Yona did call her by the name(for the first time), and even managed to cheer up, which was a huge improvement from that night before. What had happened to the princess? Did the snakes have her head? And above all, how can Yona be so nonchalant about how Ryuu was still alive? Was it Hak? No, Hak had been looking as confused as Ryuu had been since Yona called out to her.
Yona answered Ryuu's questions as if she knew what Ryuu was confused of.
"It's weird. I kind of felt Ryuu's presence with me last night, and somehow I know you'd show up here fine. Thanks to that, I felt much better. Ryuu's presence is...how do I put it...soothing in a way...."
'What?'
Ryuu's eyes widened as she covered her mouth with both hands in attempt to calm herself down as she bursted into fits of laughter, rolling to and forth on the ground. Soothing? That's the last thing you would call someone who like Ryuu, who used to be the assassin specialising in the murder of important figures(not to mention, with high payment of course). Twenty years of assassination had earned her the name "Atsuki" as a representation of the reflection of the moon on her Katana, appearing red in the blood of her target. Yona actually called someone like Ryuu 'soothing'? That was too much, even for a joke.
This feeling...she had not felt this happy for a very long time.
"I still can't believe you, hime-san. You're just like him."
"Him?"
"Nah, it's nothing."
Ryuu managed to calm her laughter down.
"I just remembered an old acquaintance. That's all." Ryuu grinned.
Hak, who had been standing aside judging the supposed servant, sent his hand to her back and smacked hard, causing Ryuu to fall backwards.
"Oi Hak! What was that for! It hurts!!"
"Stop fooling around with the princess. Did the fall from last night get to your head?"
Oh that. Ryuu did remember herself falling from a tree when she was deciding on how to approach the two. Not exactly a pleasant experience, and Ryuu somehow knew she'd never get the scene out of her head.
"Hak, where are we heading towards now?" Yona asked.
"I'm afraid the only place we can rely on for the time being," He turned to the village at the bottom of the mountain. "The Wind Tribe, and also my hometown."

My apologies for the short chapter. It was originally meant to last until they leave the Wind tribute, but I was unable to complete the rest, and didn't update in forever😱 So I decided to post the beginning of the chapter first. Hope y'all readers know I am not giving up on this story just yet. Was going to post it earlier, but my wifi is not working well. This is no excuse for my long hiatus, but I still hope you will understand. For "Atsuki", it was originally meant to be "Aka Tsuki", which literally translates to "red moon". However, it clashes with the name of the anime/manga itself, so I shortened it to "Atsuki" instead. ("Akatsuki" also means dawn in Japanese.)
Thank you for following this fanfic till now! :D
