To make some parts clear to all when reading: When the narrative revolves around anyone that is not Ryuu, they automatically refer to Ryuu with male pronouns(he/him/his/etc). My apologies for being confusing. Enjoy!
---"Ryuu, you sure this is the right way?" Hak looked distrustful of the smaller male as they walked through the steep mountainous tracks.
"At least that's what my instincts say."
"Your instincts?! I know you're not an idiot, but Ryuu, we only know that the priest lives somewhere here, and the northern mountains are huge. Now we're following you here just because you feel like it's this way?"
"I guess, unless you have any better feeling of where the priest would be."
That managed to shut Hak up, because as much as he did not believe the direction they were going in was the right one, it was just as true that he had absolutely no idea where the priest lives. But still... He looked at Ryuu, who was standing beside himself, squinting his heterochromatic eyes into the distance ahead. They were of a weird color indeed, and Hak made a mental note to ask the male about them in the future. But right now... Hak was not prepared to just go along with any instinct that was not his own.
"Alright, don't fight, you two." Yona said as she stood between the two to break out their small argument. "Hak, do you see anything?"
"Nope, nothing in particular. That old geezer, how does he expect us to find someone when we don't even know where he is?"
The old general's words seemed to repeat themselves in his head.
'If you are unsure of what to do next, you should seek out the priest. They will definitely lead you to the right path.'
The truth was, Ryuu was actually familiar with the priest, having met him a couple of times in person, he would be considered an old acquaintance. However that was quite some time ago, perhaps years before he decided that he would live an isolated life in this deserted area. Thankfully enough, with her single dragon eye, she spotted a small settlement at the bottom of the mountain next to the one they were standing on at the moment. It was not visible to a regular human eye, or to Hak's or Yona's at least, so she couldn't just tell them it was the hut at very the bottom of the mountain buried beneath layers of thick forest canopy and fog. She knew that saying she was simply 'following her instincts' was not the most intelligent answer, but she could not bother with a better excuse at the moment.
Especially since she heard distant footsteps coming after them seemed to be closing up.
It was not a lot of people, if Ryuu had worked with the Thunder Beast, the number of soldiers would have meant nothing. But with Hak and Yona present, Ryuu was troubled if she should just tell the two of them that she could hold a decent battle, or simply stand aside and let the Thunder Beast do the work. Now, Ryuu was a person that might seriously be lacking in sympathy for certain people, but she was not as heartless as to going all the way to make Hak tolerate the burden of the upcoming battle alone while protecting Yona.
However, if Ryuu revealed that she could fight, it came without a doubt that they would question the reason behind why she did not tell them about it beforehand. Yona probably wouldn't think much and will be easy to trick, but Hak? He was a sharp one, and Ryuu knew for a fact that he would never just let this one pass.
'Let's just see how things go for now.'
Realizing she had spaced out, Ryuu brought herself back to reality in time to see the Thunder Beast squatting on the ground with his palm on the ground, and she immediately realised that the soldiers were quickly closing up on distance. Pretending to not to have noticed anything as she observed their movements though her ears while staring at Hak informing Yona about the upcoming attack through a creative way(more widely recognised as 'flirting'). Ryuu felt the excitement of a battle run through her, like a bolt of lightening, and all her five senses heightened themselves in preparation for a fight she did not plan on joining.
