Ryuu was falling.
The cliff was high, so the fall seemed to go on forever. As they fell, past the layers of canopy towards the bottom of the cliff, Ryuu mastered the last of her strength to shift herself below Hak, who had his arms wrapped around Yona, serving as the last form of protection from the impact that was to come. Seeing as both the Thunder Beast and Yona were unconscious, Ryuu heaved a sigh of relief. At least they won't be awake to witness her regenerating abilities, that'll save her some work.
Then everything turned black.
When Ryuu regained consciousness, she was lying on the forest floor, the weapons still lodged in her body.
"Urgh." Ryuu gritted her teeth as she removed them one by one, the wounds healing immediately. That was the thing about Ryuu's body - while she did have regenerating abilities as the yellow dragon, the ability is much less obvious, and only work just as well when she was met with death. That was to her benefit in a way, such that she didn't have to worry about cutting herself in places with people.
She turned her gaze to the two cuddled together beside her, long passed out. Yona seemed fine, having been wrapped thoroughly by her gorilla bodyguard, she only had minimal scratches that don't seem to be fatal. That made Ryuu heave a sigh of relief. At least her Mistress was fine. But the male lying beside her? Not really. Despite Ryuu shielding him from some of the impact, the fall was steep, and Hak still suffered quite an amount of damage that was enough to claim his life.
"Luckily-" Ryuu placed her fingers over Hak's nostrils. "He seems to be alive for now at least."
This was troublesome. In the whole of her life, Ryuu never bothered herself enough to learn any medical knowledge, or first aid skills for the matter. And the reason was simple - she never needed them. When she was an assassin, if she had enough time to study meds, she would've spent the time assassinating instead. It was proven to be even more useless when she received her dragon abilities. Still, she had enough common sense to know that when you see blood, the first thing you were supposed to do was to stop it.
Ryuu didn't think much before tearing her sleeves off and wrapping them around his injured leg. It was a terrible abrasion, and the least she could do for him was wrap it thoroughly and prevent it from getting infected. That didn't seem to work well though, for the blood quickly seeped through, and soon enough, the cloth was dyed dark red in the liquid. But still, better than nothing at all. Not wasting any time, Ryuu did the same for all the other open wounds visible on his body.
"He's heating up," Ryuu realized when placed her hand on Hak's forehead after bandaging his head. She didn't know what a fever meant, but she knew it was nothing good.
"Hak, Hak. My lord Hak. You better be fine, you're fine," gritted Ryuu to herself. The cons of being a self-regenerating dragon included not being able to give them to people who actually needs them. For instance, to Hak now.
It was around then when she heard it.
"Long, long time ago, when the big red sun was gobbled up."
It was singing. Ryuu couldn't tell if it was a guy or a girl from the disembodied voice at first, but it was approaching them with every step. Anyone with a decent brain had to know it was help, because there was only one such person who'd live around this isolated forest.
"And when the world descents into darkness-"
The source of the voice seemed to notice them and turned around, still biting on his apple. It turned out to be a young boy.
