I lay on my stomach hugging a pillow to my head, my heavy tired eyes closed as I relaxed in my bed. The room was silent and calm. I had never been one to sleep naked, but it was oddly comfortable.
My hair felt like a tangled mess and there was an ache below my belly button that wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon. I could feel the sting of scratches on my back beginning to.
A nail slid down the ridge of my spine making me shiver, my eyes opened and I stared across the bed at Balto his blue eyes peaceful like the sky after a storm. A lazy smile painted across his face, he was happy, I was happy. Everything felt good.
“I’ll talk with your father today.”
I blinked at him, “Why?”
He smiled and moved closer his hand sliding over my back pulling me and turning me at the same time to lay on my left side.
“He deserves to know our relationship, along with your mother.” He answered kissing my forehead softly.
He jerked back his eyes wide, Panic swelled in my chest as shock and fear filled his eyes.
“What’s wrong?” I hissed going to sit up, something caught in the back of my throat and I began choking on it.
Balto sat up patting my back softly with one hand while pressing his wrist to my forehead with the other. I heard him curse under his breath.
“The fevers back.” He hissed holding me as a violent coughing fit gripped my lungs like a constrictor.
This was not good, this couldn’t be happening. Not after such a good night, I was ruining it with my stupid immune system. After a few minutes of struggling I was able to breathe again.
“I’m sorry” I hissed out fighting back another coughing fit.
“Don’t apologize, you physically exerted yourself last night. I half expected this to happen anyways.” He murmured slipping from bed and pulling on his pants.
I watched him delightful images running through my mind like my own little movie screening. There was no regret in me about what happened. The only thing I regretted was this stupid sickness that always plagued me.
“I hate being sick.”
Balto was at my side again fully dressed, he lifted my hand up and kissed it gently watching me.
“Even so, we’ve caught it early. So my princess its bed rest for you, I will go and contact Sunny and Taryin. They can pick up some medicine for you.”
“Why didn’t they come back last night?”
“I had them patrolling the house and neighbourhood looking for Sylvester.” He admitted looking away.
I smirked and leaned forward resting my head on his, “It was probably for the best.”
He looked up at me again and nodded his head, we both froze as the house trembled as the front door slammed shut. Both our head snapped to look at the red block lettered clock sitting atop my dresser it read 6:11, who would be coming into my house this early?
“Hey kiddo!” I froze at my father’s voice.
I looked down at the sheets and felt myself flush, if he found me like this I was so dead. A neatly folded pile of clothes were set down in front of me and I looked up at Balto, he smiled and nodded to them.
“Thank you.” I whispered grabbing the bra and clipping that into place in record time then pulling a black v neck t-shirt on over my head before I swung my legs out so I could pull the plain panties up.
