Taryin called my father who didn’t demand to speak with me, which didn’t surprise me. My father was not a man who was good with emotional girls.

He left that storm for my mother to deal with. I was curled up on the couch in my living room staring at the TV screen as the movie Alien VS predator played on the space channel.

I liked this movie, even though this was the first time I had ever seen it… I think I liked it because it distracted me and let me drift away into sheer oblivion.

Balto pinned my arm to the couch by laying over top of it curling himself closer to my chest, his eyes watched the screen intently following along with the action and gun fighting.

I wondered if he had ever wanted to do things like that. Being a cat all the time must be frustrating for him to deal with. I knew if it was me I would have lost my mind by now.

“Balto how old are you?” I asked petting the fur down his spine.

“714 years old, I was born in 1299.” He said looking back at me.

It was surprising, and if I wasn’t already recovering from the shock and adrenaline from earlier I would be gaping at him.

But with the string of events slowly occurring I was starting to get in my own mindset of anything is possible.

Bigfoot, Vampires, Heck even Santa was real now. Everything was real and nothing was a lie. Well apart from my life, but that was a different.

“Wow, you’re really old.” I murmured nuzzling his neck fur.

He chuckled softly and laid his head back down on my arm, “Yes I would have to agree with you I am old.”

“Why aren’t you dead?” I realized only after I said it how cruel it was, “Sorry, sorry. Never mind.”

“No, Its fine. Feral’s are part of the Immortal court. Much like Vampires we live forever with restrictions, they must consume life in order to live on. The Feral’s must kill as well, but we dig for the heart. It is also the Ferals job to keep the others in order. If that is not done then we are killed”

“Oh… Immortal court?”

“Ah yes the Immortal court, I guess you can know. There are an abundance of creatures roaming the earth that have obtained Immortality. They came together and formed a court, the very first of their kind. Together they make of the Court. They keep the law and order among the Supernatural’s kind.”

I nodded my head; it made sense that they should have laws. If there were a lot of them then they don’t want people to find out who or what they are. Or it could end like the witch hunts did.

“Balto, why did Taryin call you family?”

My question made Balto shift uncomfortably, “He’s my cousin, along with Sunny. They’re both Ferals as well.”

My eyes widened and I sat up a little more pulling my arm out from underneath him, Taryin and Sunny were both Ferals? But they were nothing like Balto.

“They’re both Canine Ferals, they aren’t directly related to me. But their mothers both were related to mine.”

“Wow… I couldn’t even have guessed… So there are more than just cat Ferals?” I murmured laying back down sliding my arm underneath his belly.

“Yes, there is a variety of Ferals, Any animal really could be a Feral. But if forced to stay in this form we become stuck and can’t change back into human.”

“What about you?” I asked him scratching his stomach lazily.

“The curse is what binds me, but it also stretches me to the utter most limits and then allows me to change. But because of that I retain a lot of my form when I’m human.”

I smiled bringing my knees up to touch his back feet, “What do you look like human?”

He laughed shaking his head, “You are very curious.”

Nodding my head I waited for him to answer, He sighed looking at the TV as the movie went to commercial break.

“I look like myself, I’m not very sure. To be honest I haven’t seen my own face for a while.”

“I want to see what you look like.”

Taryin sauntered into the room plopping down on the end of the couch, “There is no way that’s happening. And Balto you have to agree, you can’t involve her any more than she already is.” He said not looking at me but at the TV.

“Why can’t I see Balto’s human form?”

“Because when I become human my mind is focused on one thing and one thing only, Sating the human urges”

“Ah delicious Carnal sin, what a glorious dark delight.” Taryin sighed longingly.

I frowned at both of them I didn’t understand, “Sex Cupcake, we’re talking about hot, violent, long, wild sex.” My face bloomed bright red as Taryin turned to look at me his eyes completely serious.

“Taryin, you didn’t have to say it like that,” Balto hissed turning to look at me, “I apologize, he’s rather straightforward.”

“Well unless, She, of course wants to have sex with you? Maybe you should give her a go,” Taryin drawled smirking at me as my face continued to heat up.

Balto scoffed in disbelief his ears pressed back against his head, “Taryin Damnit, I am not going to do that to Sybelle.”

I wrapped my arms around Balto and pulled him back in against my chest burying my face in his soft black fur, He smelled warm and comforting.

The room went deathly silent and still as Balto froze pressed against my chest. Grinning devilishly I kicked out hitting Taryin and pushing him over the edge of the couch.

“You’re interrupting our movie. Go away you Dog.” I hissed at him sticking my tongue out.

Balto snickered nuzzling his head against my chest, Taryin glared at me over the edge of the couch.

“You told her what I was!” He bellowed at Balto.

“I said I would tell her the truth, when she asks I will answer her.” Balto sighed rolling his blue eyes.

Taryins face went all red and he glared down at me, “Then why don’t you tell her about your Brother, Maybe then you two may finally understand that this is the worst idea you could have ever had,” He barked at us before turning and storming away.

Balto had gone very still in my arms his ears pressed back and his tail puffed out.

“You have a Brother?” I whispered watching as his eyes dilated and his breathing became shallow.

Balto was scared… of his Brother.
