I was nervous, anxious, and on the verge of strangling myself with my scarf. I had barely slept at all, even with Balto staying downstairs with Taryin discussing the fact that I was an idiot. I was worried and my stomach felt light and my mind was jumping around every possibility. Seriously something was wrong, with me, not anything else.

Not only was the week where the moon would work into becoming full and Balto would have a human body. Oh jeez, girls mind at work. But, I was also on the bus heading to school, and I was alone.

Taryin was asleep on the couch and I had completely forgotten about him. I had unconsciously gotten on the bus and now I was regretting it. Horrible scenarios played through my head over and over again. I wanted to curl into a ball and die.

They would be so pissed, I pressed my hands to the side of my head and moaned. This was stupid. I leaned back and pulled the yellow string.

I would get to school and then call the house, and then go from there. I thanked the bus driver as I stepped from the bus. As I made my way up to the schools back doors crossing the empty road I pulled my phone from my jacket pocket.

I was felt physically afraid to call the house and explain that I had left without a guard, either that or the image of Sylvester eating my organs just sort of drowned everything else out. Why did I do that to myself?

Give my rabid mind those images to use against me. Such horrible things. Either way I typed the number in and then waited patiently for them to pick up.

“You are in so much shit” Taryin snarled from the other end making me jump.

“I am so sorry! I was already on the bus by the time I remembered!” I whined shrinking in size.

He gave a dark throaty chuckle, “Balto is so fucking pissed off, I have never seen this guy look so angry.”

I winced at the idea of Balto turning his full rage against me, then again I had never seen him really angry so once again my imagination got the best of me.

“I’m sorry. I swear I didn’t do this on purpose. Listen I’m already at the school so I’ll just go in and wait in the office. There’s somebody in there so there will be a witness”

“Good, and don’t you even dare think of moving your little ass from those chairs until we get there.”

“I really am-” a soft leather gloved hand slid around my mouth pulling me off the pathway up to the doors. I screamed kicking back at them, my hand tightening on the phone, “Sybelle! Damnit Sybelle, answer me!” Taryin shouted through the little speaker.

Hands grappled pulling my bag off my shoulders and tossing it to the side driveway. It was early enough in the cold winter morning that nobody would be able to see anything. Naturally. I screamed louder as I felt hands fighting with my belt buckle.

I dropped my phone and clawed at the bare hands feeling my nails dig into flesh. A man cried out and I watched his shadow stumble away. My vision was blurred thanks to the tears building in my eyes.

“Dalton I told you not yet” A dark smoky rasping voice curled from my left.

A feint glow of a cigarette lit the man’s face, “You can play with the pretty thing after we talk to the beasts” He bent down picking up my phone as the little speaker squealed from Taryins loud voice shouting out from it. He held it up to his ear and chuckled.

“Hello Taryin Domaire, This Regan.” He paused and drew in a deep breath of his cigarette, “Yes that Regan” a large puff of white smoke billowed out from his lips as he spoke.
