I'll see you again

There's something sad
About a chapter coming to
An end
Something so broken
You can no longer mend

When you've made mistakes
Said some things
You can never take back

Do you know what it's like
To have the guilt running through
Your veins
Making your hands ache with pain
Throbbing over and over again
Feeling a noose around your neck
That lets you barely breathe
The type of guilt that causes
Headaches, no, migraines
I squint my eyes because
I cannot deny
It's my own fault

I thought I'd gotten over these
Sick twisted games
But I find them replaying
I'm going insane

So I'll see you again
In the spring
When the flowers are made
For crows

And the grass is for
The sunny days we can lay back
And say oh my god
This is paradise

So I'll see you again
Passing through the halls
Avoiding your gaze
I don't want to see you again

So I'll see you again
Because we will meet again
And we will begin again

Because life isn't over
Things change
And as we know
Change is inevitable

I'll see you again
In the autumn
When the leaves fall again
We will have coffee together again
We will stand in the rain again
One day

I'll see you again
But I'll never know you again
Because I know you now
I'll never see you as you are again

And that is something I can remember
Because I need closure
I suppose this is it

I'll write new words with you
I'll have new conversations with you
We will be brand new
Because people are changing too

Maybe some day down the line
We will meet again

Because you can say this is over
What's done is done
That we haven't been getting along

You can tell me all of the bullshit
Lies and excuses to spare
My feelings, maybe to spare yours
And you can hide away from telling
Me what I did was wrong

But honestly
Was something I thought we strived for

I guess I was wrong

So I'll see you again
When the wind blows
When flowers grow
When the sun set glows

So I'll try to mourn
And forever more
I'll be here

Thank-you
For everything
Truly
