"How long have you been together?" She asks
"Three monthes. But I don't see how this has anything to do with the nightmares? Unless you are trying to small talk but I'm paying you to help me, not so we can have a nice little chat."
Dr. Stevens write something in her not book. I was never allowed to see what she wrote.
"Witty as always." She mumbles, probably thinking that I didn't hear.
Stevens and I never got alone very well. However she is one hell of a psychiatrist.
"So tell me Harper why did you call me?" She asks and move her glasses from her forehead to get nose.
"The nightmares. I already told you that."
Alzheimers?
"Yes. Those too but there has to be something else. I'm sorry. This might seem a little off topic but do you trust Blain? Trust him that he won't leave you?"
I didn't call her so I could get relationship counseling. Okay, no. That's rude even for me so I don't tell her that.
"Yes I trust him...""So you belive he won't leave you?"
"Yes! I told you!" I snap at her.
"I don't belive you." She says.
"Oh and why is that?"
Now I'm getting pissed.
"I belive that you are afraid of Blain leaving you. Just like your mother and Emily. Terrible things have happened to you Harper but you need to learn that not all people have bad intentions."
I fiddle with the hem of my shirt, not meeting her eyes. I know she is right. But it is easier said than done to belive that. Slowly I nod.
"It's hard. Like... why? Out of so many people he chose to be with me. He could have picked anyone." I say and it barely sounds like a whisper.
"Well Harper you are quite extrordinary so I don't blame him." She smiles.
