Sofia fiddled with a pen under the table. Miss Moore had really gone too far this time. Who wanted to write numerous phrases down and translate them into Spanish? The list seemed to go on forever. She decided to do the first three and then just fill the rest in when they marked them at the end. Her friend sitting next to her, Sarah, had clearly decided to do the same.

When they had finished, Sarah told Sofia that she was going to daydream. It was a new habit of theirs, when Spanish lessons got boring which was quite often. It was fun to pretend to be somewhere else, let your imagination carry you away, especially with a friend. Sofia replied "It's so hot. I would love to swim in some cool, clear water right now! Let's imagine it."

They bent their heads and closed their eyes...

Sofia lowered her hand so it was under the chair, her eyes still closed. She knew it was silly, but when she was daydreaming, she loved to actually feel like it was real. She felt water skimming her hand and she was sure her feet were submurged in water as well. The sound of voices was surrounding her. She had never daydreamed this vividly before. Her imagination must be getting stronger. Sadly, she opened her eyes. She didn't want Miss Moore to notice her daydreaming.

As soon as she opened her eyes, Sofia knew something was wrong. She was in her Spanish class as usual, but the desks and chairs were floating on water! One student was even swimming to the bin to sharpen her pencil! Miss Moore was shouting at the students to be quiet, splashing them with water. She was wearing a fashionable swimming dress with the Spanish flag embellished on the front. The flag was made of sequins.

Sofia clapped her hand to her mouth. This couldn't be a daydream. She tapped Sarah who jumped. "What the..." She said, lost for words.
