Monday-3:30pm
Christmas decorations hang from the roof of the bus, swaying as the bus drives down the street. Children chatter behind me, to many conversations to listen to one. 2 girls sitting across from me belt out Katy Perry lyrics. I chew a piece of gum and stare out the window blankly. My jacket sits on my lap and my bag still on my back. Joy sits next to me tapping her foot to the song the girls are singing and humming the tune. The late bus. For kids with after school sports or clubs or stuff. Or for kids with detention like me. The bus driver keeps looking up in the mirror and screeching at kids to sit down or stop sticking their heads out the window and stuff. Me and Joy don't get yelled at. We're good kids. Joy, I met her after I got out of detention as we walk to the bus she blabbers about things but I tune her out. I ask her why she was waiting for me and she just shrugged. She was obviously hiding something but I did not care enough to ask her I just met the child yesterday for crying out loud! As I sat down on the bus she plopped down next to me and finally stopped talking. I was relieved. When I got home I was going to watch Netflix and chill with some peace and quiet but Joy had other plans for me.
