Monday-7:40am
I am sitting in a chair outside the principal's office. I hold an ice pack to my head and I watch Mike hold a tissue to his bloody nose while he shouts at his 2 goonies. Harris is sitting next to me whistling a happy tune. I look away from Mike and stare at the ground, Suddenly he stops whistling "Are you okay?" he asks, watching me play with my fingers nervously. "I'm fine" I say nervously. He eyes me suspiciously. "Really I'm fine" I say shakily. I take a few breaths in an attempt to steady my breathing. "Really?" he asks. "Really!" I insist with a failed attempt at steadying myself. But I am not alright. I feel like throwing up and there is a cry creeping up my throat. But I hold it in. "Okay!" he says with a sigh. I look over at Joy on my other side who had been quiet the whole time. "Joy" I start quietly. "I'm sorry!" she says quickly. "For what?" I ask. "I should have stopped you" she says as her eyes start to fill with tears. "It's not your fault." I say truthfully. "It is" she insists looking away. "Joy, it's not your fault" I say sternly. She looks at me. "Take some deep breaths and calm down" I say. She nods and takes a few deep breaths. She wipes her eyes. She flashes a small smile and I smile back. "Darcy can you please come into my office with me?" asks a voice. I know that voice too well. It's the principal.
