As we exited the theatre, I took a peak at the time on my phone, it was two sixteen. We still had a whole day ahead of us.
"Hey, do you want to, um, head down to the beach?" Marcus asked, fiddling with his sleeves.
"Yes!" I replied, excited. "Do you mind if I go home real quick and grab my board?"
"Of course not, I'll drop you." He looked at me and smiled, pointing keys at the car we were approaching.
I glanced to the side, getting a better view of the car. The shiny, black exterior looked familiar.
"Is this, Justin's car?"
"Yeah, he's letting me use it until I get mine soon. It saves him having to drop me all the time." He laughed.
I let out a quiet laugh, feeling slightly awkward getting into the passenger door of Justin's car, which Marcus had opened for me.

Finally, we arrived at the beach, suited up and ready. We had stopped off at Marcus' house too so he could get a board, or, borrow one.
"I'll race you down to the beach!" I shouted, grabbing my board and jumping out of the car that was parked in the lot, 20 meters back from the beach.
"That's cheating! You got a head start!" I heard Marcus yell from behind me.
I ran, feeling the wind pounding my face, and powering though my hair, making it spin wildly behind me. The soft, golden sand was rising up underneath me, spraying my legs and sticking to my feet.
I came to a halt, just shy of the playful blue waves, slowly rolling in. I inhaled deeply, my chest rising up and down from the run, the cool ocean scent filling my nose. I felt Marcus' presence soon enough. I looked at him, he had taken his glasses off, exposing his chestnut eyes. I'd never seen him without glasses before, he looked different, I liked it.
"Well? Are we getting in the water or not?" He laughed, putting an arm behind my waist and pulling me in with him.
I let out a scream, as the warm waves hit me as soon as we got in, seeping through my wetsuit and onto my skin.
"Come on, I want to teach you how to surf." I said, while attaching my board to my leg and hopping up onto it. Marcus imitated me, getting on his board as well.
"What you have to do, is try to stand up, that's the first step." I instructed as we paddled out a little deeper.

Three and a half hours later, Marcus could finally stand on the board. Even though he said Justin taught him some things, he wasn't very good, making me feel like a proud mother as I cheered, watching him standing for the first time.
We continued surfing as the sky went through all the stages, transforming from a clear, bright, crystal blue to pale shades of pink, and deep shades of orange. The sun was beginning to set.
"Come with me, I want to show you something." Marcus said, as we stripped off our wetsuits, leaving me standing in a bathing suit and him in shorts.
"What is it? Where are we going?" I asked, as he took my hand, picking up our stuff and leading me along the beach.
"Sh, just follow me. Hurry!" He broke into a slight jog, dragging me along with him.
He led me up through the rocks to the top of one of the cliffs at the empty beach, finally stopping at the very edge and sitting down.
He patted the spot next to him on the right, looking at me encouragingly. I obeyed and sat down with my legs hanging over the edge, leaving all of our belongings dropped in a pile behind us.
"Look." Marcus pointed out over the horizon.
I glanced up, instantly amazed by the sight. We had the perfect view over the whole beach, it was breathtaking; the pinks, purples, reds and oranges of the sky melting together perfectly, forming outstanding, intricate marble patterns throughout the air, joining with the blue-emerald ocean waters that were peacefully rippling, swaying onto the fading golden sand. It was extraordinary.
I felt a hand slowly and quietly creep toward my own, gently taking hold of it, enclosing my tiny, delicate one in a much larger, soft one. I didn't pull away, absorbed by the magnificent sight before me, instead, I carefully held it back, the warmth bouncing between our joined palms.
My same arm was gracefully lifted, at the same time as his arm pulled me in closer, wrapping around my shoulders, my hand still clasped in his, my head, slotted through the hole made between our two arms and resting on his chest. I brought my free hand up to join my head, placing it gently next to it. His other hand, gradually rising from its spot at his side and falling around the front of my waist, resting on the side.
No words were said from that point onwards, nothing needed to be said. We stayed watching the sunset. Everything, right there, was perfect.
