"I can't wait to see you tonight, babe." Luke says on the other end of the phone.
"I'm so excited, it's our first night out without the kids." I say and smile.
"Wow, it's our second date and we already sound like an old married couple." We laugh at Luke's lame joke.
"Did you get a babysitter for Michael and Camilla?" I ask.
"Yup. She's gonna be here at 6. I wrote instructions on what to feed them and what their bedtime is and everything.
"Good." I let out a sigh of relief. "I'll see you tonight at 6."
"See you then." I hang up the phone and stroll to the bathroom to start getting ready.

I wore a bow crop top, ripped black skinny jeans, and purple converse. I put on light pink lip gloss and put on purple eye shadow, eyeliner and mascara. My hair was already curled and done, so I was ready for our date.

The clock read 5:45.

"Mikey, it's time to go to Camilla's." I say as I walk downstairs.
"Okay mommy. Can I bring my book?" He holds up his Thomas The Train book.
"Sure." I say. I look at him close his book and run to the door, searching for his shoes.

He doesn't even have a clue about me and Luke.

I considering telling him for a minute, but then I remembered that Luke and I weren't gonna tell the kids until it got serious. And I'm just gonna have to be okay with that. It'll be worth it.

"I'm ready mommy!" Michael screams, interrupting my thoughts.
We go out to the car and I buckle him up in his seat.

We get to Luke's at exactly 6. I ring the doorbell and impatiently wait, tapping my foot on the welcome mat that sat outside his door. Luke opens the door a few seconds later.
"Hi." He greets, smiling at me. Michael hugs his legs.
"Where's Camilla?" He asks.
"Upstairs." Luke answers and laughs. Michael separates from his legs and runs upstairs as fast as he could go.
"Hey beautiful." He says and hugs me. "You look great."
"As do you." I say, blushing. "So what's the plan for tonight?"
"Dinner at this great little Italian place on 5th street and a drive-in movie." He answers.
"Sounds romantic." I say.
"It will be. It'll be the best date you've ever been on, I guarantee."

Fast forward to after dinner

"You were right." I say. "That was some great food. This has been a great date so far, but how will the movie be?"
"I guess we'll just have to find out." He says. We drive up into an empty space in the lot.
"What movie is this, anyways?"
"The Notebook." Luke answers.
"Wow, that's a really romantic movie." I say.
"Yup. And..." He pulls out a box from the back seat. "I have blankets."
We cuddle up in the back seat under 3 layers of blankets.
"This is cozy." I say and lay my head on his chest.
"This is perfect." He says. I smile and silently agree.
It truly was.

The movie, so far, was great. Luke and I cuddled and made dumb jokes and held hands.
I could feel the famous kissing scene coming up, and there was an unsettling feeling in my stomach. I don't know what it was.

As the scene kept getting closer, Luke got closer as well. He held me tighter and leaned his head on my shoulders.

The scene came up. They kissed.

"Hey, babygirl." Luke says. I look up at him, my head still laying on his chest. "You're amazing, you know that?" I smile.
"I guess I'm pretty cool." I say and laugh.
There was a moment of silence, just eye contact.

The next thing I knew, I was kissing him.

I'm kissing Luke. This is seriously happening right now. I just, I can't. This is my first kiss since the night I got pregnant with Michael. This is amazing.

Luke pulls away and smiles.
"I told you tonight would be perfect." He says.

My phone starts buzzing so I check it.
"It's the babysitter, I better take this." I answer it. "Hello?"
"Hi, I tried calling Luke but there was no answer." She says.
"I'm sorry, what's up?"
"Michael started having an asthma attack. I asked if he had an inhaler and he said he left his at home. We're on our way to the hospital right now." She explains.
"The hospital?" I say, my heart rate increasing.
"Yes. The one on 17th street. We'll be there, if you want to check in or something. I know you're out with Camilla's father but I wanted to let you know-"
"No, oh my god, thank you for letting me know. We're on our way now." I hang up and turn to Luke.
"Michael is in the hospital." Luke nods. "Can you drive us to the one on 17th?"
"No problem." He says and climbs into the front seat. I sink in the back and surround myself with blankets, praying that Michael will be okay.
