"Hey babe, I was wondering if you wanted to go get some coffee later today?" Luke asks me on the phone.
"Sure! Where should we-" I get cut off by Michael tugging on my pants. "One second." I hold my hand over the phone. "Yes?"
"Who are you talking to?" Michael asks.
"Camilla's daddy." I answer.
"Can you tell him to tell Camilla that I said hi? I miss her." He pouts.
"Sure thing, bean." I smile and put the phone back up to my ear. "Sorry Michael was talking to me. He wanted me to tell you to tell Camilla that he says hi."
"Will do." He laughs. "So should we bring the kids?"
"Yeah, I don't think I could find a baby sitter that quickly. We'll just have to not be all couple-y." Luke sighs.
"I guess so." He says. "Starbucks, 20 minutes?"
"Sure." I smile and hang up. "Michael?" I call. He comes running in.
"Yeah?"
"We're going to Starbucks with Camilla and her daddy. Get dressed." A big smile grows across his face as he runs out of the room as fast as his short legs could carry him.I decide that I should probably get dressed a little nicer, as I'm in sweats and an old shirt.
I put on a blue halter top and a black skirt with my lucky converse.Michael walks in on me putting on lip gloss.
"Mommy? Why are you putting on lip gloss to see Camilla's daddy?" He asks. I hesitate.
"I just want to look nice in public." I say. "Let's go." I smile and grab Michael's hand.We arrive at Starbucks a few minutes later, and I see Camilla and Luke waiting for us. Michael runs over to Camilla and hugs her, but Luke stays and stares at me, smiling softly. I take a seat next to him.
"You look great." He whispers to me. I smile and feel my cheeks heat up.
"Mommy's blushing!" Michael screams. "What are you blushing?"
"I bet my daddy said something sweet." Camilla said. Luke laughs and lifts her onto his lap.
"No one could replace my little girl." He said and kisses her head. He looks over at me and gives me a re-assuring wink.~~~~~~~~~~
We finish up our drinks and decide to go back to Luke's house.
"Two play dates in one week!" Michael excitedly said, climbing into the car. I look over at Luke, who's buckling Camilla into their car, and he shoots me a smile. I softly smile back and buckle Michael into his car seat.We got to Luke's house just minutes after them. I saw Luke leaning against the side of his house, waiting.
"Go inside and play with Camilla. I'll be in in a few minutes, okay?" I say to Michael. He nods and runs inside. I walk up to Luke.
"There you are." He engulfs me in a hug.
"Michael was talking to me and I got a little lost." I say. "But I'm here now." I smile.
"You like Mountain Dew, right?" He asks.
"Of course." I answer.
"Good. Because I was thinking Mountain Dew and Friends."
"Sounds perfect." We walk inside and to his living room.
"Michael and Camilla are upstairs." He says and grabs 2 bottles of Mountain Dew and hands me one.
"Which episode do you want?" He asks.
"The One With The Prom Video." I answer. He sets it up and sits next to me, putting an arm around me, which makes my heart beat faster.~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hang in there, it's gonna happen."
"What? Okay, now how do you know that?"
"Because she's your lobster."
"Oh, she's goin' somewhere."
"Come on, you guys. It's a known fact that lobsters fall in love and mate for life. You know what? You can actually see old lobster couples walking around their tank, you know, holding claws..."Luke lightly traced his hand up and down my arm as we watched the famous lobster scene.
"You... You have to picture lobsters."
Luke forms his hands to look like a lobster claw. He looks at me and I do it as well. We hook our hands together like Phoebe was doing. Luke smiled down at me, I looked into his eyes and noticed that they were a little bit brighter than the day I met him. He cracks a smile and pays his attention back to the show. I lean my head on his chest, his heart beat significantly increasing. And we just sat there, watching Friends, holding hands like lobsters, until it was time to leave.
