Days after the ascension of the new Polis Queen, Clarke, and her sister Lexa will make a discovery that will change the entire kingdom forever. A massacre of an entire grounder village by the member of the coalition, Skaikru. After a violent fight w...
The night had been long and cold, we were at the end of fall. The colored leaves overlapped the clay of the forest. I was freezing so I went next to the fire. I gave a look to Bellamy, he was sleeping peacefully, I guess our conversation had a great effect on him as it also had on me. A scrambled signal drew my attention away, I turned looking for a camera, a radio, something. Then I heard words “… soldier b… camp …” and before I could do anything Octavia was awake holding a radio, she cut the sound and said: “Here soldier Blake I’m listening.” Her tone was firm. Bellamy woke up and came close to us.
“Here Arkadia military base camp, did you find the Officer Blake?” After these words it was like the time stopped for the three of us. Octavia looked at Bellamy but her eyes were empty, no emotion. Bellamy didn’t try to persuade her to do anything. She brought the speaker to her mouth, pressed the button and said:
“Negative. The Officer Blake is still missing.” No relief breathe came from any of us, we all stayed quiet. Octavia wasn’t taking her eyes off of Bellamy.
“We’ll send a patrol later. Come back to camp Soldier Blake. Over.”
“Got it. Over.” She grabbed her sword and left near the fire, adjusted her gun and started to walk away. Bellamy was about to stop her but I went instead.
“Octavia! You’re not actually thinking of going back there?”
“Like hell I am. I’m a soldier, I have orders. Moreover you want to go to Arkadia to find out what happened.” She didn’t let me answer and kept going. “I can provide you a meeting outside the walls with a trusted leader, inside it’s too dangerous. Try to stop the progression of the Polis army before the meeting. I’ll deal with the rest.” Without waiting for my approbation she walked away. Bellamy came to me:
“You’re not seriously considering this plan, right? Don’t let her do this!” He tried to go across me to catch her, I put my hand on his chest and stopped him.
“Bellamy listen to me. Octavia will be fine, you need to give her time, her plan is a better chance for the both of us to stay alive. You can’t go back to Arkadia right now, you told me that. We’ll go to a training camp on the other side of the hill, my sister will be there. She will find a way to fix this, she always does.” I missed Lexa so much, just speaking of her was making me smile. A smile between joy and sadness.
“You miss her don’t you?” I shyly nodded. “Then go see her I’ll wait for you here, I can even get close of Arkadia to keep an eye on Octavia.” He saw that I was about to reply so he kept going. “Because be honest Clarke, we both know I’m lost. I’m a murderer for your people and a deserter for mine, I’ll be killed either way. You have a better chance without me.”
“Don’t say that! You remember what you told me while we were hiding. You told me you’ll stay with me no matter what and that’s exactly what I’m planning on doing. I promised you that I’ll help you get out of this and I will. Now follow me, we have a long walk before we get to the training camp.” I was quite proud of myself, I guess I just said what was in my heart and it worked. Bellamy nodded. He put out the fire and followed me.
We were walking for hours and Bellamy hadn’t say a word since we left. He didn’t seem upset but I wanted to be sure.
“Are you okay?” I asked. He looked at me with his kind look and drew a crooked smile on his face.
“Yeah, just thinking … You’re a Queen walking alone by night without any protection …”
“That’s not true, I got you.” I interrupted him. Bellamy blushed a little and kept going, pretending nothing happened.
“With an enemy of your people, well … if we get to this “training camp thing” alive we will be lucky!” Nothing in these words was supposed to make me smile but I did it anyway, I guessed I just needed someone to make all of this less dramatic than it actually was.

The fresh air and the sky full of stars was reminding me of my thoughts when I came in the forest for the first time. I was seven. I was so amazed by all this beauty that I actually didn’t want to go back to Polis after that. I wished this little girl was still here, with her airiness and her stupid smile. But all of this faded away a long time ago. A sound of water took me out of my thoughts. Bellamy wasn’t here anymore, I moved forward and saw him sitting in the river without moving. He looked at me with a grumpy face and said:
“Yes your majesty, I fell. I fell in the river because you made us begin a journey by night.” He tried to be serious but his smile betrayed him so I giggled before giving him a hand. Maybe this little girl wasn’t far away after all. When he was out, he took his gun and tried to shoot a few times in the water but nothing came out. “Damn it. The powder is wet.” He said turning to me. “Which means I was right, we are officially unprotected.”
This time I smiled and took a knife out of my sleeve and two others from behind my coat. Bellamy looked at me stomached. I made the knives jumped back into my hands and said:
“Of course not. It just means we have to do it my way now.”
