Bellamy showed up and ran to Octavia, she jumped into his arms and he hugged her tightly for a long time. Octavia was smiling of relief while Bellamy had his face in her hair caressing them like he was worried he would never see her again. I was confused but I felt safe now. They spread from each other and Octavia took Bellamy’s face into her hands:

“I missed you big brother …” she said in a whisper. “I was so worried, I thought you were dead, why didn’t you come to me? The chancellor said you defeated rebel soldiers and you need to be decorated, why did you fled?”

Bellamy gave me a worried look, I saw he was scared to tell her the truth but I nodded to show him he had to. But instead he drew a fake smile on his face and looked at Octavia:

“What about you? You didn’t tell me you knew the Queen.” Octavia turned and smiled at me.

“I knew a little girl. You remember when mom sent me to Polis for the Queen Ilombia education program, well I wasn’t studying all the time. Actually the tower had pretty good stashes and I had a friend to play with me.” She smiled at me and we hugged.

“How many years uh? Maybe ten?”

We smiled and then Octavia turned to Bellamy: “So where have you been? Everyone is looking for you

We smiled and then Octavia turned to Bellamy: “So where have you been? Everyone is looking for you.”

He had the very same look on his face that he had after the Trikru soldier episode, ashamed and vulnerable. He took a breath and grabbed Octavia hands:

“What the chancellor said to you … it’s not what happened. We attacked a village O, they told us it was a routine mission just watch the perimeter be sure that no one will cross the limit of the territory but the truth is they wanted us to extend their lands …”

Octavia was looking at him with empty eyes.
“I don’t get it Bell … Did you …” Bellamy stopped her and said with a calm voice:

“There’s nothing left of the village. No one.” He was waiting for Octavia’s reaction. She slowly left his hands and made a few steps back through me. She looked at me with wide-eyed, trying to catch her breath.

“That’s why you’re here? To bring him to Polis? You’re going to …” She couldn’t talk, her voice was choked by her tears.

“No! No! Octavia listen to me, I’m not bringing Bellamy anywhere. He saved me okay, he saved my life. I have been attacked and he protected me. I’m not putting him on trial, nothing is going to happen to him, alright?”

She nodded and removed the tears from her face. Bellamy tried to take her hand but she went back when she felt his touch. She looked at him sadly, their eyes were drowned in tears and neither could talk. Octavia sat on the floor her face in her hands. Bellamy was looking at me helpless.

I didn’t know what to do so I crouched next to Octavia and said:

“Did someone follow you?” She said no with her head so I kept going trying to soothe her. “Then we should set up a camp for tonight and then we'll decide what to do tomorrow.” Octavia didn’t move. I stayed next to her for several hours, the sun was slowly fading down. I looked up at Bellamy, he was sitting against a tree a little further looking at the floor. I came to him:

“How are you feeling?”

“Like I should've since I pulled that trigger, like a monster.” His words were so strong, I felt guilty for what I’d told him a couple hours ago. I couldn’t take this anymore, I liked him despite everything that he has done I couldn’t see a bad person in him, because I was convinced he wasn’t. I could see it now. I wanted to protect him, I was sure, this was the right thing to do. “My mother …” he started. “I remember what she used to say to me: You’re a Blake, Blakes are protecting people.”

“Bellamy …”

“She was so proud the day I got my uniform, I remember the look in her eyes. I wanted to prove her … if she saw me right now she would be ashamed of what I’ve become … she …”

Bellamy cried loudly. It was the first time I actually saw him cry that much without refraining himself, talking about his mom, his past. It hurt me. It hurt me to see him like this.

“You don’t know that, she would've seen you the way I see you now. Like a good man.” He was trying to stop crying so I kept going.

“What happened back then wasn’t your choice, your decision. Your hands were tied. I don’t blame you anymore, so you have to try to forgive yourself. But you can’t run Bellamy, you’ll find a way to make it up to her … we will fix this, together.”

Bellamy nodded and gave me a kind look, the tears were all almost gone. He gave a look to Octavia, she was asleep. He stood up and removed his jacket to put it on her. He stayed a long time next to her, watching her sleep. He cared for her more than anything in the world, anyone could see that. The way he looked at her like he was afraid to break her in a million pieces was shattering. I wished he could see himself the way I do now. A good man, a good brother taking care of his sister like she was the apple of his eyes. That's what made me like him, this side of him was the reason why I chose to believe in him, to save him. He was worth it.

He came back to me and said:
“Why are you doing this?” His voice was deep but soft

He came back to me and said:
“Why are you doing this?” His voice was deep but soft. He had hope in his eyes … his eyes.

“Because I always do what’s right and you deserve to be saved Bellamy. I trust you now.”

He smiled. He actually smiled. It wasn’t a big happy smile but it was enough, enough to make me believe in the beginning of something.

“So, together uh?”
