LUCAS FRIAR WATCHED as the storms that once howled outside the window, pulled to a stop. His gaze still remained even though his friends whom were sitting on the Mathew's couch started talking — his mind worried for his girlfriend, Maya Hart. She was originally going to stay with him and the gang at Riley's apartment, but has to stay when her mother protested and told her that she needed her help to prepare.

"Lucas? What are you doing over there?" Zay Babineaux asked from the couch, as his fingers fidgeted with a deck of cards. Lucas glanced back, "the storm stopped."

Riley Mathews looked up as did Farkle Minkus who had her arm wrapped around her shoulder, "well the reports did stay the storm would stop around 9:00am." he nodded his head nonchalantly, and looked back at the window, biting his lip.

Maya Penelope Hart, stood at the foot of her door, with her mother in tears — she wore overalls, her hair pinned upward into a ponytail. Their apartment was flooded with water that gushed in every room, her window shattered down, leaves scattered all over the floor.

She lost hope.

That one storm, took every tiny bit of hope held in her body. Tears flooded her eye lids, "what are we gonna do?" The words escaped the blonde girls lips and her mother just held her close.

"Babygirl-" Katy Hart quietly talked to her daughter, calmly, "Shawn is downstairs calling the insurance agency. But it doesn't look good." She felt her mothers hurt as the tears fell from her face.

"I know." Maya whispered, closing her eyes, and a tear rolled down her cheek.

"Maya should be coming over soon." Riley spoke, glancing around the room, before the door swung open and Riley's eyebrows furrowed as she looked at the sad expression on Maya's face, "Hey Maya."

"Hey Penelope." Lucas jokingly greeted his blonde girlfriend and she replied with looking into his orbs in the most hypnotizing way, that told him something was wrong, "are you okay?"

"No, my house is destroyed." Her eyeballs turned clear, filling with tears, "flooded. Windows broken. It's gone everything I own. Gone."

She glared at her supposed 'best friend', "Maya, everything will be okay, trust me."

"No! Riley, I can't do this. Hope. It doesn't work. It only works for you, and people like you! It'll never work for me!" Maya sternly spoke aloud, before opening her mouth again, "goodbye." She stormed out of the room, you could hear her high heels clacking against the wood in the hallway, until it stopped.

she was gone.

"Maya, where are you-" Lucas attempted to storm after Maya, but Farkle stopped him, "let her be." Those where the only words or advice that his friend gave him — 'let her be'.

The next day at school, Lucas, Farkle, Zay, and Riley all sat in Cory Mathews class, scanning the room in search of their blonde friend. She wasn't there.

"She's not at school?" Lucas's eyebrows furrowed when he was the empty seat before him, just as Mr. Mathews walked in, his head facing towards the ground, "Mr. Mathews, where's Maya?" Lucas's voice echoed in Cory's mind, before he shook his
head — his eyes saddening.

"Ms. Hart isn't here due to a family emergency, Mr. Friar." Lucas's head dropped as he slammed his pencil down on the table getting up. Normally, Cory would oppose a student getting up while he was teaching, but he stood there and nodded his head, with only three small quite words leaving his mouth, "bring Maya back."

Lucas nodded, before he left the room rather swiftly, while Cory proceeded teaching.

"Maya!" Lucas's voice bellowed through the apartment alarming the blonde girl standing in front of him.

"Lucas? What the fuck are you doing here?! You can't skip school!" Maya protested before Lucas stepped closer and closer with each word that left the blondes mouth.

"I don't care." Lucas moved closer and closer again, his hands cupping the blonde beauty's cheeks and smashing his lips against hers. Their lips moved in sync, as his hand moved to her waist pulling her closer, as she moved her arms around his neck.

When he let go tears fell from her soft ocean blue eyes, "Don't loose hope on me." Was all that Lucas said that day.

"Don't give up on me." She said as he pulled her closer into his chest, sobs escaping her mouth.

"Never." Lucas planted a kiss on his girlfriend's forehead, still holding onto her for dear life.
