I sat there at 4:30pm, staring blankly at the empty chalkboard.

I like Lucas.

Those words flowed through my mind, repeating everything.

"Hey Maya, what are you doing here?" I heard Lucas's voice ask. I suddenly swung my head around until I was staring at him.

"Uh, I d-don't know. I just needed to think, you know?" I replied, pursing my lips together, tightly.

"Yeah, I know." Lucas said, as he walked over and sat in the desk next to me. "What are you thinking about?"

"Just life." I replied, tucking a piece of hair behind my ears.

"Okay, what about life."

"Easy there 20 questions. Stop asking so many questions." I joked, trying to lighten the mood, "anyways what are you doing here, at this hour, huckleberry?"

"Here to thank you for pretending to date me for the day." Lucas said, flashing his famous Friar smile.

"It's okay, anytime." I replied, bitting my lip.

That's when it hit me; it was all pretend, he probably didn't even think about it twice.

"Anyways, need a drive home?" Lucas asked, sliding his fingers through his hair.

"My mom was gonna drive me, but I guess I could call her and go with you." I suggested, plastering a smile on my face.

"Okay, meet you outside." Lucas said as he swept down the hall.

I pulled out my phone and texted my mom.

MayaHart: hey mom, Lucas is gonna drop me home. See you there!

KatyHart: okay sweetie! See you soon!

I placed my phone back into my bag and walked out to the parking lot. It was raining, so I stayed under cover until Lucas's car pulled up.

"I'm on my way!" Lucas exclaimed, as he opened an umbrella and ran over to me.

"Thanks!" I replied, flashing a smile as I got into Lucas's car.

Lucas got in as he closed his umbrella before taking a seat.

"Let's go!" Lucas exclaimed, pressing his foot on the gas.

Once we got there; Lucas pulled to a stop.

"This is you." Lucas commented, as he pulled the key out of the ignition.

"Yeah, it is." I replied, as I turned to him and smiled.

"Uh, you want to keep the umbrella?" Lucas asked, fiddling with his fingers displaying nervousness.

"Uh, sure." I replied, as Lucas handed me the closed umbrella.

"Here you go."

The rain trickled down the window, making a calming noise.

Our eyes locked for 30 seconds, before Lucas leaned in, closer, and closer, and closer until our lips touched gently. When we broke apart, I slowly moved my head back.

"I guess I'll see you tomorrow."

"Yeah, guess so." Lucas said, a smirk appearing on his face.

I got out of the car, carrying the closed umbrella in my hand, not caring that the rain was dripping down my face, it felt good to love somebody.
