Palkadon woke with a start. His breathing came in fast gasps. His wings tingled and his throat was very raw. He was not only confused, but scared as well. He had been having the same nightmare over and over again since Thrace's banishment. It had always been the same thing, I was falling down a black hole. My wings flapped but not fast enough. I fell down to my doom. Screaming at the top of my battered lungs, I flipped myself and came face to face with the hard ground. He would always wake before he hit. Breathing deeply, Palkadon stood with stiff legs. His little sister, Misty, had walked in with a scared look on her face. Palkadon walked over to her and wrapped his wing around her mist-blue body. Her glassy blue eyes gazed at him with admiration, but he could sense something was wrong with her.

"What is it, Misty?" Palkadon whispered.

"Oh, it's nothing. I was just worried about you. You always wake up like that." Misty replied.

Her voice was high with exhaustion, like she hadn't slept for moons.

"Why don't you go to sleep, little one." Palkadon suggested, nuzzling her. Misty nodded and curled up in Palkadon's nest. Palkadon sighed, would he ever be able to keep the nightmares away.

Stepping out of the cave, Palkadon drew in a breath and blew smoke from his nostrils. He was now angry with the fact he was scared out of his scales.

"What is wrong, Palkadon?" asked his mother, Akela.

"It's that nightmare." Palkadon replied, stomping his foot in frustration.

"Hun, you're going to break the cave if you do that." Akela laughed.

Palkadon faced the sunrise and squinted his eyes as the sun became too bright to look at directly. He heard a roar out in the distance that might have came from the Snowdust Mountains themselves. But it was only Palkadon's father, Falcore. He was the king of the Infinity dragons, and of course he became mates with Akela, who was a cloud dragon. Akela's feathers brightened as she became ready to take off. Her muscles bunched and she sprang, using her back feet and spreading out her beautiful wings. Her white feathers faded into the mountain tops as she flew off to meet the Infinity king.

Later that night Palkadon's two sisters, Misty and Malsa, flew in the mouth of the cave. They had been at school the whole day. Palkadon had already finished school and was free to leave but wasn't ready until he became more aware of the world around him. The weight on his shoulders was unbearable. Every dragon in Kilo was expecting him to become the next

Infinity king. But at the moment, he didn't really like that idea.

"Palkadon!" Malsa screeched.

Palkadon didn't realize he had been in a daze.

"Sorry Malsa, hold on a minute." He sighed.

She had become so demanding in a short amount of time. Misty toyed with the stone slab in the middle of the cave. Palkadon was about to go hunting when Falcore flew in with a huge dolphin. Palkadon lowered himself in front of the Infinity king.

"My son, you were not at the meeting. Why?"

Falcore blew smoke. His orange scales shone in the late sunlight. Palkadon racked his brain for an excuse for not attending the meeting. He shrugged and Falcore growled in return.

"I truly am sorry, father, it won't happen again." Palkadon stammered straightening himself.

"You will do well to make sure of it, Palkadon." Falcore replied.

"Yes, father."

With the whole family standing around the dolphin, Akela said the prayer.

"Great Dragon Lord, we have given up our precious time hunting for our meal and we hope you can bless it. We follow you and only you, forever and always."She whispered,
