Malsa woke with a start. Today was the day of the execution. Nightclaw, her love, would die at sun high and so would the chicks he attempted to protect. She had no idea what to do. Would she have to kill them herself? Or would Thrace do it?

"Ugh, I can't even comprehend what is happening." Malsa muttered harshly.

Her dark chambers were damp and there was a stench beyond recognition of what was causing it. She wrinkled her nose and stepped out into the hall. Speck clashed into Malsa's side and tumbled over in a heap of black and white spots. Malsa regained her footing and stared down on the smaller dragon.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't see you." Speck whined.

"You should really watch where you're going." Malsa growled without meaning to.

"Sorry, my lady, it won't ever happen again."

Malsa whipped her tail and turned on Speck. The servant got up and picked up whatever she was carrying and disappeared into Thrace's chambers. Malsa then walked down the hall and her wing was dragging behind her. She had no desire to help herself. When Nightclaw would die, part of her would die with him. Part of her wanted to kill Nightclaw and her brother. But Malsa pushed it away. She didn't deny to herself that evil was creeping in the cracks of her body and was taking over her brain and soul. She wondered how long it would be until it consumed her. When it did, Thrace would have complete control over her every move. He could force her to kill anyone and she would obey. If he asked her to kill herself, she would be willing to do so. Malsa shook her head clear.

"It will happen one day and then I may kill myself anyway."

Malsa pushed open the gates that lead out to Nightclaw's garden. She remembered this was where she and him had met. This was where he had cleansed her wing. This is where he told her about the precious chicks. Malsa wanted to cry but something stopped her. She would be strong and would forget about Nightclaw. He was going to die anyway.

"What am I thinking? This is the evil again. But it is right? I have to be strong." Malsa told herself.

She looked around her. Most of the flowers were dead and wilting. Malsa hung her head low.

"Why were you so stupid, Nightclaw?" She asked the silence.

Of course, nothing answered her. Although the wind seemed to speak. It seemed to say things beyond her comprehension and understanding. The sun was beginning to rise now. Malsa's thoughts then traveled to that sun high. Her eyes stung with tears. Malsa quickly held them back. She would not cry over this. Nightclaw was going to die but she had to be stronger than ever before.

"I can't do this. How will I get over this?" Malsa whispered to herself.

"You can let me escape." Malsa heard from the darkness.

"I could never go against Thrace."

"But you could go against your love?"

"I am not able to choose."

"Choose what you wish but I would choose you."

"I know you would but I cannot."

"I know you cannot right now but just think."

"I will, then I will let you know." Malsa sighed.

Malsa ran off towards Thrace's lair with great speed. Malsa ran with tears in her eyes as she thought of life without her true love. Once Malsa reached Thrace's lair she searched all over for Thrace in hope of saving Nightclaw. Malsa ran into Thrace's chamber and found Thrace motionless and sobbing. With tears all over the nest Malsa was worried greatly over her masters sadness.
