27: Back and Sick

FINALLY! Hailee's gonna be back. Damn that week was frustrating. I was just quiet. I was just thinking of how to go to her and apologize.

"Ready?" Lex asks. I shrug.

"I don't know.."

"It's gonna be fine. Hailee's your best friend she has to understand." Bliss says.

Someone enters the classroom and from the wind blowing the persons colorful hair its Hailee. Should I go now or..? She goes to her seat. She coughs and sniffs. She's sick. She makes eye contact to me. She coughs again then gets a notebook to write something.

"Go." Bliss and Lex said. I nod and walk over to her seat. She doesn't see me. Or she does but just doesn't wanna?

"H-Hailee?" She continues to write. I knelt down to her side.

"Hailee please.. I'm sorry okay! You were right." She doesn't look at me.

"Hailee look at me." She doesn't.

"Hailee.. Please look at me.." She stops writing and taps her pen multiple times. She finally looks at me. Her eyes were just full of wonders. It was swirling with the main colors she shows. And a little bit of grey.

"I'm sorry! I should've believed you. I'm sorry I shouted at you. I'm sorry I said all those things to you. Those words weren't true. I was just too drawn.. You were right.." She coughs.

"Get away before you get sick." She said quietly. She stands up to fix her bag when I hug her. She freezes.

"I don't care! You're here now and I missed you even it was a week! I told you that I can't risk a day without you Hailee! I don't care if I get sick for getting near you. I want to be near you. No matter what state you're in. You have to be here..." I feel her sigh. She relaxes and hugs back. I hugged her tighter. Did she forgive me? Or did she hug me that she's here and she's alright?

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry.." I whisper in hear ear. She coughs. Her temperature is really warm.

"Are you alright? You're really warm." I said touching her forehead and neck.

"I d-don't-" she sneezes.

"Bless you." I said.

"You should go to the clinic." I say and she shakes her head.

"No thanks. I'll be fine." She says and goes back to her seat. I go back to the girls.

"You guys good? Cause we saw you two hug." Bliss asked.

"I don't actually know.."

"What do you mean?" Lex asked.

"I said sorry but all she said was to stay away so I don't get sick."

"She needs to think I guess."

"I guess.."

Science time came by. I was glancing at her. She had her right hand under her cheek staring intently at Teacher. She removes her blue jacket from her waist and puts it on. She coughs covering her mouth with a hankerchief. She looks at me and turns back her attention to the class. It's gonna be another long week for me...

When it was recess and lunch she hang with us. But she barely speaks. She would just silently laugh. She sits in a corner with Martina. Sometimes she would go back to the classroom. Hailee's actually in the classroom right now while the rest of us here.

"What should I do next?" I ask. They shrug.

"Let her think for a while. She just came back."

"Sick too." I said.

"Yeah. Let it sink into her for a bit. Maybe the next day she'll talk to you. Then everything will be back to normal."

"I wish..."

We went back upstairs. Hailee's asleep on her armchair. I put her hood on. I noticed her notebook fell on the floor. I picked it up and opened it. Its her song book. "YOU" was the title of the song.
