FRED

The slick stone walls of the dungeons rippled with flickering candlelight as George and I descended to our Potions lecture. It was our last year, and we still had to deal with Snape. I was bloody excited that we were nearly done. Sighing, I shoved open the door and immediately my mind was filled with thoughts of Elle. She had been the only thing on my mind for the longest time.

"Thinking of Eliza again, Fred?" A calm Blake gave me a pitying look while arranging papers on her desk. Though she had been in Advanced Potions last year, Blake had to retake the class because Snape had failed her. She'd murmured under her breath, at the start of term feast, about the issue. It had something to do with "outright insolence" and "mixing the wrong ingredients on the O.W.L.S." I could recall the shrill tone she'd used as she mimicked the drab professor over the nose of the return feast.

I scratched the back of my head and threw my bag onto the floor of George and I's shared desk. "Yeah, I really hope she'll be fine while I'm away," I said, not feeling ashamed to admit she had me worried.

Blake grinned and nudged my shoulder, excitedly. "Don't worry about it Fred! Our Ellie-wellie will be fine! Besides, it's already a few days before Halloween, if she hasn't woken up by now, I don't think sh-" Blake clapped a hand over her mouth and George gave me a withering look.

Blake's face flushed and her eyes glimmered a little while she gave me a shocked look and waved her hands frantically around. "N-No, that's not what I meant! I - I only was trying to say that she probably won't wake up until you get back! Sh-she's going to be fine! The people at St. Mungo's said so! That's why they allowed her to be taken home, right?!" She blathered, face growing more and more red as she continued on.

Even though I knew what she meant, I couldn't help but feel slightly put out. Elle had been in a coma for seven months, and while the nurses and doctors at St. Mungo's kept reassuring us that she only needed time for her brain to recuperate, I couldn't help but feel as if she was slowly slipping away.

George rolled his eyes and shook my shoulder. More students filtered in the dungeon classroom as he flicked Blake in the middle of her forehead. She flushed a deep shade and apologized once more, settling into the desk in front of us.

"Cheer up, mate," George assured me. "She'll be fine - no need to worry about it."

I only nodded and glared down at my Potions book. Blake patted my hand one more time and gave me a weary smile. "She'll be great - then you can take her on your guys' first date. I'm sure her parents will explain everything to her as soon as she wakes up, and then she'll come back to Hogwarts!"

I looked up at the same time as George did and our eyes met with the same amount of guilt. Technically speaking, Elle was no where near her house. In fact, she was laying in a vacant room in the second floor of the 12th building of Grimmauld Place.
