Ch. 18: Blake Slaps Me

Sighing, I flipped to the next page in my History of Magic book. It was a tedious class, that was no lie. However, do to the ghost professor's long, monotone voice, I always found myself sleeping during the two hour classes we had with him. So, due to Hermione's 'I told you so's, I dedicated a long hour of my Saturday in the library, leafing through the stale book.

How much was I actually learning? Nothing.

But, mainly, that was due to the people sitting at the table in the next alcove. I couldn't see them, but I knew who they were just by their obnoxious giggling and hushed tones.

    Fred, Angelina, Blake, and George.

Clenching my fists tightly, I contemplated many scenarios in my head. Many of them were different ways to hex Angelina and Fred. Mainly Fred, though. Angelia was the least of my problems. Fred had more than enough time to meet up with her, but not me.

And, the other scenarios were just me storming out. Yet, I did neither of those. Instead, here I was, tormenting myself.

Sneaking up to the shelf, I pushed some books to the side, trying to eavesdrop a little on their conversation. What could Fred tell Angie that he could not tell me, his 'girlfriend'?

"Yeah, I can't wait for the birthday," Fred grinned, nudging his twin with a wicked glint in his eyes.

"Mum is gonna be mad," George smirked, but Angelina rolled her eyes at the two of them.

Fred spared his twin the same devious cackle, and they chanted, "But, when is she not miffed at us?"

Biting my lip, I felt a thick sensation in my heart. It hurt as I watched their little group share side glances and jointed jokes. It was not as if I was acting the jealous girlfriend, I didn't mind that he wants to hang out with his friends without me. But, he had ignored me for a while now.

And, it felt terrible. It felt, it felt like a dagger was shoved straight into my heart, and, while my heart was still beating - it was pulsing around the sharp blade, cutting deeper and deeper with each passing second, torturing me.

    God, I'm melodramatic.

"Elle? Are you studying?" A aloof voice called from behind me, causing me to jump away from the bookshelf and knock a few books over in the process.

Rubbing my arm, I quickly ducked from the gap I had been peering into, blushing a deep scarlet. I'm a stalker, great. "U-Uh, yes. I was just looking for a book," I nodded, suddenly feeling a strong sense of déjà vu.

"What are you up to, Luna?" I changed the subject, grabbing a random novel about Juggernauts.

"Really?" Her light eyes, flickered towards the shelf, "It looks like you were watching something upsetting. Are you alright?"

Pursing my lips, I chuckled a little forcefully and waved her off, "What? Psh - no. I'm just brushing up on my History of Magic for O.W.L's."

"Me too," she sighed, ducking her head with a crease in her forehead. "Professor Binns docked me for my last report of the history of snifflebacks and Paris," Luna shook her head, as if pitying the ghost, "Apparently he doesn't know the Muggle Napoleon Bonaparte was infested with them in his hat," she grinned lightly, "That's why it was so big, you know."
