Chapter 5 - Sweet Jerks

"Everything's gonna be alright."

I can't believe I cried into Jeremy's chest. What the hell am I thinking? My cheeks turned compulsively red so I averted Jeremy's gaze and said "Please go out. I need to change."

He quickly released me and stepped out until I could no longer see him.

When I was done changing. I went out and saw him flirting with the staff who gave me the outfit. I don't know why but I felt a pang in my chest.

I rolled my eyes and frowned. I breathed in a big gulp of air and approached him. "Thanks for your time. Bye." I say in a blant tone and quickly headed for the door. But yet again he grabbed my arm.

I say "What?" in an angry tone.

He looked surprised then smirked "I'll drop you off princess. Can't let you go home all by yourself now can I?"

Right. I walked going here.

I facepalm myself mentally. How stupid can i get? I checked the time in my phone and it was 7:30 pm which was pretty late.

"Whatever." I say in an annoyed tone. He smiled looking satisfied "Let's go."

During the ride, it was silent. Very. Everytime he tried to strike up a conversation I would cut him off. I don't want him to get the idea that we could actually become friends. He's still the playboy that I know, he might just be toying with my feelings. Not that I have feelings for him whatsoever.

Realizing we had stopped and had reached my house. I got my purse and mumbled the words 'thank you', but as I opened the car door, he grabbed me by the wrist and pressed his lips against my ear.

My body became tense as he said "Goodnight sweetheart" with his signature smirk.

I closed the door to the car and watched as he drove away. I could still feel his soft lips on my ear. Which made me blush.

What the hell happened?

As I calmed down, I noticed that there was a crumpled paper on the pavement. I opened the crumpled up paper which said 'Call Me Later' with his number scribbled beside it.

I quickly went up to my room and I plopped myself onto the bed. Staring at the paper.

I think he was going to give this to the girl from the store.

As I thought about it, I realized my phone vibrated and it was a text from Annie saying..

'Where have you been all day missy?'

I quickly replied.

'Come to my house asap! I'll explain later!'

'On my way'

45 minutes later

*doorbell rings*

*opens door*

"Chloe!" she screamed and hugged me so tight I thought I was going to burst. "C'mon, I've got tons of stuff to tell you!"

We quickly went to my room and I told her about everything. About Jake lying to me and Jeremy being a disgustingly sweet jerk. Basically everything in general.

After I was done Annie looked mad and said "Clareece is a bitch! Excuse my French."

I chuckled, she always knows how to brighten my day.

"I love you" I said as I hugged her tightly.

Annie said "I love you too. You don't deserve this." she hugged me back tightly. I released the hug and she was pouting and crossing her arms like a little kid.

"But I do deserve this. After that horrible party." I say with sadness evident in my voice.

Annie just gives me a knowingly smile and pats me gently on my back.

I needed that.

We talked and talked until we realized it was late so Annie called Chad to pick her up. I sighed after Annie left. It's school tommorow ugh. I thought as I slogged down to the kitchen to find food. I laughed and thought to myself, I eat like a caveman. I pulled out a box of pizza and heated it.

I went back to my room and placed the pizza on the table near my bed. As I was reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green because I was done with all my homework and had nothing to do. Yes, I take my homework seriously and yes, I like John Green. Wait scratch that out, I love John Green.

As I was reading intently, a photo of a little girl holding a little boy's hand fell from one of the pages of the book. I smiled thinking how cute it was. But I wondered who the two were because these teo kids in the picture looked very familiar. To be honest I have never seen baby pictures of me and Clareece, ever. Mostly because our parents were too busy that they had no time. Sad isn't it?

I tucked the photo in my drawer and went back to reading my book. Until I became drowsy and dosed off.

The next day, I drove to school and didn't even bother to wake Clareece up. She's older than me yet im the responsible one. Peculiar. I was driving, Tongue Tied by Grouplove was playing. So I started singing "Take me to your best friend's house. Goin' round this roundabout, ohhh yeaaah."

As I reached school, I saw Jake. Wow. Thanks alot Universe. Really appreciate it. I thought as I do my best to ignore him. I swiftly glide out of the parking lot and onto the bathroom. I quickly hid inside one of the stalls and breathe rapidly. Until I heard a rabble of cheerleaders talking which made shut my mouth. They were mumbling so I couldn't hear well. I leaned closer to listen to them properly and this is what I heard..

"Did you hear the rumors?" a cheerleader started. She was probably applying lipstick because I could hear her smack her lips.

"What rumors? "  says another cheerleader.

"The one about Jake and Clareece dating. People say she's getting back at Jeremy for rejecting her." the cheerleader starts to whisper.

"C'mon, let's not talk about that here."

I could hear their footsteps getting smaller and smaller until the door opened and closed.

Thank God.

I quickly went out of the cubicle and went to my locker. I quickly got my things and went to my 1st class which is History. Ick.

I lazly took all my classes before lunch and almost died out of boredom. As the bell which indicates the start of lunch, I galloped to the cafeteria to see Chad and Annie. How cute.

"Hey guys." I say gloomily.

"Hello" Chad says.

"Are you okay?" Annie asks.

"Let's just say that today isn't my day." I say as Annie pats my shoulder.

As I was ranting about what had just happened, my eyes suddenly became teary as I saw something I wish I never had walk into the canteen.
