Chapter 3 - Things Fall Apart

Jeremy Ryder.

Oh.My.God.

I hid under the cafe table, acting as though I was finding something I had just dropped.

After waiting a few minutes, I looked back up to see if the coast was clear. My eyes widened as I saw Jeremy sitting the opposite to me with that stupid grin plastered on his face.

What the hell is he up to now?

"Hey there sugar!" he said cheerfully.

"Don't you dare call me that! Why are you sitting here?" I say in an irritated manner.

"Can't I?"

"Of course you can't!" I say a bit too loudly.

"Woah, don't get all worked up now sugar" He says as he slowly moves to leave the table.

I sigh. What the hell am I doing?

"Fine, you can sit here. I'm sorry for being a little too harsh on you."

"No worries sugar" as he winked and hurried back to his seat.

I cringed at the pet name.

Sugar? Gross.

A waitress came to our table and asked Jeremy what he wanted to order. She was clearly flirting with him. I chuckled when Jeremy didn't even realize it. He was too concentrated on the menu.

He ordered a hot chocolate and a velevet cupcake. After the waitress left, Jeremy crossed his arms on the table and looked straight into my eyes and smirked.

"What?" I say.

"Why were you laughing sugar?"

"You clearly didn't notice it hotshot but that waitress was clearly flirting with you." I say as I chuckled.

"Ohh, well..." he says as he clears his throat "Who couldn't resist me?"

I burst out laughing when I heard him say that. I held my stomach because it started to hurt from laughing too much.

As I finally stopped myself, I realized Jeremy was chuckling.

"Are you done laughing sugar?" it actually made me blush when he did his half smirk.

What the hell? Why am I blushing?

The waitress came back with Jeremy's order. She winked at Jeremy and glared at me before she left. Oh Wow.

I chuckled and said "See?"

He laughed and soon ate his cupcake. Being the food lover that I am, I say to him "Sharing is caring."

Which made him laugh so hard. He took the fork and cut the Velvet Cupcake in half.

I mumbled "Thank you."

He smiled and said "You surprise me Chloe. Most girls are too conscious of their body and don't eat a single thing."

"Well, I'm not like other girls" I say proudly.

He went back to eating his cupcake. We sat there in silence for awhile. Then I got up to leave and said "Well, thanks for sharing."

"Hey, I'll walk you home." he said as he hurriedly got up to leave.

I was actually surprised and maybe happy.

What the hell am I thinking?

I felt my cheeks turning hot.
