Chapter 9 - Unexpected Disaster
I was never the beautiful girl, the girl that everyone adored. I was only here to please myself.
Until you came.
I never felt obliged to be confident or pretty. I never made an effort for guys to notice me. It felt useless, well all that changed when I met you Sky.
The only guy who had actually asked me out was Jay Walkington, the captain of the debate team. He once made a speech about why we should be together. It was utterly embarassing, making me red as a tomato. I've been avoiding him ever since.
I saw Sky in Riverdale High the next day, quite shocked but someone at the party had already told me it was a welcome party so no surprise that he's in Riverdale.
A little thought had come across my mind as I stood there watching him huddle around his mates.
It was the way he looked. He looked more beautiful under the morning haze rather than those jittery neon lights. He looked breathtaking, like an endless ray of pulchritude, affecting those within his light. He made me feel breatheless.
I hadn't realize that I was standing in the middle of the hallways like a bloody idiot the whole time I was captivated by his beauty.
Feeling abashed, I skittered away into the oblivion. Wishing I was brave enough to walk up to him.
God, how I wish.
Amazingly, I was dazing off into the world of make-believe today. Feeling stupid for being distracted by this strange feeling I cannot quite fathom.
Walking in the halls, I bumped into someone. Gathering my things, I looked up to see Jeremy huddled around a bunch of slutty banshees. (By banshees, I mean girls with no self-respect.)
Scrunching my face at the sight of it all, I stood up and straightened myself. I glared at Jeremy who had an apologetic exterior and walked away like nothing happened.
I had absolutely hated Jeremy Ryder during Sophomore year.

As I opened my locker, a paper fell out. Annoyed, I quickly threw it back into my locker and drifted into the last period before lunch which was Chemistry.
Not a big fan of the subject, I sighed and dragged my feet to the Laboratory. I was not even paying attention to Mrs. Darcy, our Chemistry teacher who had made the subject more tedious than it originally was.
Consumed in my own thought, I didn't realize that we had to pick our own lab partners. I looked around to see everyone with a lab partner so I sighed and approached Mrs. Darcy.
"Excuse me Mrs. Darcy but there seems to be no more available partners." I say drearily "Perhaps I can work alone?"
"Nonsense! There must be at least one person who is available as your lab partner." She says heartily as she stood up to inspect the sea of students.
I huff my cheeks and stand there like a complete idiot while Mrs. Darcy looks for a lab partner.
"Charlotte!" she calls out with a wide grin on her wrinkled face. She was clearly old but you could tell that she was quite the heartbreaker in her youth.
She grabs my wrist and lightly pulls me to a table near the back door of the Laboratory.
She introduces me to my lab partner. "Charlotte, meet your new lab partner Sky Miller."
