Weeks passed and Poe's parents had returned...but not alive.
Luke said that it was best to let Poe grieve on his own, but I couldn't just let him suffer alone. The night after the funeral, I took my blanket and went to Poe's room where he was staying.
I felt out the corridors to locate him. When I got into his room, I heard sobbing and frowned, hurrying over to his bedside, "Poe...? Poe, it's me, Sonja...I'm here," I said and the sons only paused for a moment before he was silent.
"Go away..." I heard him croak and I sighed, pulling at the covers.
"Poe, you're not the only one," I said and his grip on the blankets hiding him lessened.
"What do you mean...?" he asked.
I had to hold myself together...
"A Sith...he killed my Mama and Luke saved me...but I watched her die," I admitted and pulled back the blankets, "I never had a papa," I added, climbing in and laying on my side, facing him as the covers hid us both now.
Poe sniffled and I saw his wide eyes, "I'm sorry..."
"Don't be...because you wanna know what my friend Ani told me?" I asked, smiling as I saw the A-Wing model that we made together, clutched in his arms.
He nodded and I reached out, taking one of his hands in mine, "The ones we love never truly leave us...they guide us through the Force, like angels, watching over us until we see them again," I said and he smiled sadly after a few moments.
"Thank you..."
"I just like helping..."
About an hour later, I still lay there...
"Sonja, don't fall asleep," Poe whispered.
"I'm not sleeping,"
"Then, why are your eyes closed?"
"I'm meditating, shushh..."
The next several weeks were spent with Luke in the morning, Leia at lunch time, then spending time with Poe until the evening.
"You've been spending a lot of time with that boy, Sonja," Luke said as he sat meditating while I did a digital matching game on a computer pad.
"Yeah, we built that A-Wing together. Yesterday, Poe and I pretended that we were destroying the Death Stars, like you did!" I said, looking up at my master.
His eyes opened and he sighed, then smiled, "I'm glad you're happy...I couldn't ask you to spend all your days with old men and a babe who can't even hold his own head up yet," he chuckled.
"Don't forget a pretty princess!" I scolded and he laughed.
"Yes...Leia, too...but I need you to know, before you grow up, things will change greatly, padawan. Life will not always be so joyful," Luke offered that warning and I bowed my head.
"Then...I'll just be the best Jedi that I can be! So, when things try to be bad, I'll fix it! Just like you always fix R2 or 3PO," I grinned and Luke smiled proudly.
"You would keep things in balance?" he asked.
"I would...because that's what Jedi do. You taught me that, Master," I said with a smile and he let out a satisfied breath.
"It is good to hear...come, I suspect Leia will need more help with Ben today. He was quite fussy this morning when he didn't get to see you at breakfast," Luke said as he stood up, extending a hand to me, which I gladly took...excited to see my godson...
I raced Luke through the halls and I was winning, he finally rushed me and scooped me up in his arms, tossing me over his shoulder as I laughed.
We got to Leia and Han's quarters and the princess sat in the kitchen, feeding Ben with a bottle.
"I caught a little ranchor on my way here," Luke said.
"I am not! What is it?!" I didn't even know, I was laughing my head off.
He set me down and I jogged up to Leia as she set the empty bottle down, "My...she is rather ferocious. We'll just have to fill her hungry belly so she doesn't eat us all whole!" Leia joked and the afternoon was perfect after that...
