Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Go away." I yell to whoever is knocking on my door. I hear the footsteps slowly disappear and I shove my head back into my pillow.

I've been awake almost all night. What Ashton said to me last night hurt me so bad. I've never been so embarrassed in my life. I'm not even sure how he found out.

Knock-Knock. Knock-Knock.

"Go away!" I yell louder.

"Paislee? It's Aiden." I hear his small voice from behind the door.

"Oh. Come in." I tell him and sit up.

He comes in with a tray of pancakes and coffee. Poor little guy looks like he's about to drop it all.

"I was told to bring this to you and not leave until you ate all of it." He smiles and hands me the tray.

I take the tray and pat the bed for him to sit.

"Who made it?" I question. The pancakes are burnt and the coffee is really strong, so I imagine it was Ashton. I appreciate it, but it's gonna take a lot more for me to forgive him.

Aiden gives me a toothy grin and shrugs.

"Was it Ashton?" I hint.

He blushes and shrugs again.

"Well thank you." I smile and he nods.

"Paislee?" He whispers.

"Yes?"

"Can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"Why'd you move here with us?"

The tears prick at my eyes and I fight them back. "Uh...my... my parents died."

Instead of replying, he jumps in my lap and cries while hugging me tightly.

"I'm sorry Paislee." He sobs.

"Hey, its okay. Don't cry." I comfort him, wiping his tears away.

"I'm sad because my mom died too." He tells me.

"What? No, Aiden your parents are away on business. They'll be back soon." I tell him. Why would he think Julia is dead?

"No." he laughs. "My real mom died when I was born."

"What?" I gasp. "I thought Julia was your real mom?"

"To me she is. She got me when my mom died. She died before the doctors got me out of her tummy." He informs me.

This kid is really smart for a five year-old.

"Oh." I say.

We talk for a while longer and he decides he wants to go to the mall. Since my jeep is here now, I tell him we can. I get dresses and grab my things.

We get to the mall and the first place Aiden wants to go is the candy store. They give us both a bag and we get to get pick any kind of candies we want. Aiden gets almost every kind of chocolate he can find and I get Jelly Beans.

Julia is going to kill me.

After we leave there, we go to the toy store. Aiden begs me to buy him a four foot Sully from Monsters Inc., and of course, I do. We buy a few outfits and accessories. He's such a unique kid. He has a great personality for a five year old and loves hats and sunglasses.

After we eat in the food court, I tell him we should be going home. After begging and begging, I let him sit up front. I know I really shouldn't, but it's not that far from the house.

On the way back I think about how Aiden is adopted. I can't believe his mother died while giving birth to him. It's horrible. And where was his real father?

Hooooonnnkkk!!

Before I can blink, I slam on my brakes and try to cover Aiden's little body. The impact of another vehicle hits my side and my leg goes numb with pain.

The last thing I hear is Aiden's screams.
