Beep-Beep. Beep-Beep.

I slowly open my eyes and see nothing but white. White walls, white blankets, white everything.

I'm in the hospital.

Oh my God!

"Aiden!" I scream.

"Shh. Shh. Paislee, it's fine. He's okay." Julia calms me down.

"What happened?" I rub my temples.

"Someone ran a red light and hit your side. In the process, you threw yourself over my baby and the impact of the other car crushed your leg. It's broke." Julia informs me and points to the big black cast on my leg.

"I knew not to put him up front. I'm so sorry, Julia." I cry.

"Hey, it's okay. Aiden can be very persuasive. We all know that." She laughs.

"Can I see him?" I ask.

She nods and walks over to open the door.

"Pay!" Aiden runs in screaming and plops down on my hospital bed.

"Hey, are you okay?" I smile.

"Yup. Look at this cool bruise!" He laughs and shows me a big purple bruise on his arm.

"Oh, wow. That's cool." I force a laugh.

Julia told me Bryan sends his wishes for me to get better. He had to stay back for their business. Logan and Lucas brought me a huge pink teddy bear. Ashton, of course, didn't come.

"The doctor said you can go home now, if you want." Julia smiles.

I nod my head and she helps me get my things.

Once we get home, I go up to my room to take a nap. The pain medicine the hospital gave me is taking a while to wear off.

My head hits the pillow and I'm fast to sleep.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

I open my eyes to see Ashton standing in my doorway.

"Hey. Mom had to leave again. She told me to make sure you eat." He says, holding up a tray of soup.

"Oh." I say and check the time. It's almost 9 o'clock. I've slept for 13 hours. Wow.

"Where should I sit it?" He asks shyly.

"Uhm...just sit it here." I tell him and pat the bed.

"Paislee, I...uhm... I'm really sorry about the other night." He sighs and rubs the back of his neck.

"It's fine. Please just drop it." I tell him.

He sighs and leaves my room.

I sit up and grab the tray. There's a small black box with a purple bow on top. I read the small note attached.

Paislee, I'm so sorry for the other night. Please forgive me?

-Ashton

I open the box and find a brand new pink IPod Touch. It's all ready to use and has almost all of my music and apps from my old one. How'd he do that?

I plug in my headphones and change into my bikini. Of course, I can't swim with this big ass brace on my leg, so I'll just tan. I put on my big beach hat and go to the pool.

"Can we talk?" I hear Ashton ask as I change my music.

I pause my music and look up at him. "Sure."

He rubs the back of his neck nervously. "Do you like it?"

"I guess." I shrug, trying my best to hold back my smile. I think it's really sweet that's he wants me to forgive him. I mean we were at a party and we were drinking so I see why he got irritated at the stupid game and said hurtful things. We all mess up sometimes. What I don't understand is why he wants me to forgive him so bad.

"Come on, Paislee. I'm trying here. I made a fucking mistake and I'm sorry." He says and rakes his hair back, frustrated.

"I know. It just hurt me and it was really embarrassing." I admit.

He sighs. "And feel horrible for it, Paislee. I really do. I got aggravated and I had been drinking. I'm really sorry, Paislee."

"I forgive you." I smile to him.

He looks up at me, shocked. "Really?"

"Really." I laugh.

"Would you...uh...tell me what happened?" He whispers.

"They said a drunk driver hit them when they were on their way to the airport. My dad...uhm...died instantly. My mom didn't make it long after she got to the hospital." The tears prick at my eyes and I hold them back. It's hard not to cry when I think about them.

He sighs and puts his hand on mine. "Wow. I'm so sorry. What happened to the drunk driver?"

"They never found him." I sigh.

"Oh."

"Why now, Ashton?" I ask.

He looks at me confused. "What do you mean?"

"Why are you being nice now?"

He laughs. "I realized I was being a rude obnoxious ass."

"Do you always listen in on people's private conversations?" I laugh.

"Nah. But your room is right beside mine." He smirks and walks back into the house. Taking the warmth from his hand with him.

"Oh yeah." I blush.
